Private Great Ocean Road Tour

1. Private Great Ocean Road Tour

Although we may be biased, we think that the Great Ocean Road is one of the most scenic drives in the world. This 243km stretch of road—just a one-and-a-half-hour drive from Melbourne CBD— embodies everything you could hope for from an Australian road trip: picturesque coastline, rugged cliffs overlooking crashing surf, deserted white sand beaches, and ancient rainforest. And around each corner is a new, breathtaking view over the Southern Ocean. At the start of the Great Ocean Road, we’ll cruise along Surf Coast Bay with roaring waves on our left and lush, green mountains to our right. We’ll take in the storied sites that this road trip is famous for. Explore the quaint seaside town of Lorne renowned for its café and surf culture. Keep watch for colourful native birds and koalas on a walk in Kennett River. We’ll stop for lunch at Apollo Bay, a coastal town renowned for its seafood that sits at the edge of the rainforest. After we’ve filled up with a tasty meal, we’ll wind our way through Maits Rest Rainforest, one of the oldest and purest rainforests in the world and take a walk among looming mountain ash trees. Our final stop for the day is a visit to the Twelve Apostles. These towering limestone structures line the coast and offer views over the picturesque Lorch Ard Gorge. After a day of adventures, relax on our three-hour drive back to Melbourne. What to Expect? - A fully organised trip so you can sit back, relax, and enjoy the ride (and views!) worry-free. - A coastal drive along the famed surf coast of Victoria with stops at notable sites. - Lunch in the seaside town of Apollo Bay, where you’ll be spoilt for choice of fresh regional products. You can even sample vegemite ice cream! - A walk through an ancient rainforest filled with eucalyptus and fern trees. - Stunning views over the Twelve Apostles rock formations and coastal Loch Ard Gorge.

Great value for money tour with plenty of wine tasting, a good lunch and a chocolate ending. Really enjoyed Soumah winery, but the Helen and Joey lack of service and wine knowledge made for a very poor visit. Hope the Wine Hope crew take them off the list for future tours.
