Visiting island and volcano - 5 stars. The way the tour is organized - 3 stars. These travelers staying and Kos city keep in mind that whole tour takes 10 hours as people are collected from various place which takes awfully lot of time. Extracting time in boat and bus which remains is 2.5 h free time in Nisyros plus 40 min for volcano. Compare these 10 hours with 3 hours

Be collected at your accommodation around 9:00 AM. Then head to your first destination, Filerimos Hill. Here, visit the monastery of Our Lady and the remains of the Ancient Acropolis of Ialyssos, which is one of the three ancient cities of Rhodes island. You can walk along a Golgotha, which is a tree-sheltered pathway with a series of shrines with scenes of the Holy Passion. This footpath leads to an enormous imposing cross, which from the top you can admire the outstanding view of the villages and bright green valleys. Next, visit the Valley of Butterflies. This is a unique and peaceful ecological setting, which is a true representation of local nature. You will return to your accommodation around 2:00 PM.
Inexpensive and interesting trip, self-guided to two contrasting places. Filerimos beautiful and so peaceful, we had one hour there. Valley of the Butterflies is nature at its best - truly special experience. Lots of steps, some quite rough but with good handrails. It takes about 50 minutes to reach the delightful cafe at the top, by which time you will definitely have earned a rest! We are late 60s/early 70s and managed the climb OK - but do take sensible shoes and water. You don’t need a sunhat for the walk, since it’s shaded by trees. We had two hours there.
