Depart from the port of Kardamena in Kos and take a 1-hour cruise to the volcanic island of Nisyros. Upon arrival, transfer to a waiting bus that’ll take you on a short drive to the volcano. Listen to an informative guide along the way. Get information about the volcano and the history of the island. Then, feel the force of the lava rumbling deep beneath your feet as you enter the volcanic crater. See the bubbling mud pools and steam geysers, and imagine that you have landed on the moon. Return to the port and get the chance to wander around the town of Mandraki. After a short walk through the narrow streets of blue and white painted houses, visit the monastery of Panagia Spiliani, considered one of the most beautiful monasteries of the Greek Islands. Make your way back to town for some free time for lunch (own expense) or do some shopping before boarding the boat back to Kos at 4:00 PM.

This full day boat trip begins at 09:30 AM from the port of Pythagorion. After sailing along the coast on a fishing boat, the captain will drop an anchor in front of a sandy beach on the small uninhabited island, Samiopoula. After hopping off the boat, you have an hour of free time to relax and swim.  Then, the boat sails to the beautiful beach of Kakorema, which is located on the southern coast of Samos. The boat crew will prepare a meal for you at about 1:30 PM while you enjoy swimming in the clear blue water and sunbathing under the sun. At around 5:00 PM, you will return to the port of Pythagorion.

Start the tour by stepping back in time to the Ancient Greek era with a visit to the Temple of Hera. Admire this marvelous feat of construction which dates back to ancient time. Then, head north for a guided tour of the 15th-century Monastery of Megali Panagia, an excellent example of Byzantine Greek architecture. Enjoy a short walk through the traditional mountain village of Pyrgos which is famous for its honey and ceramics for a short walk. After visiting Pyrgos, make an optional stop in the area of Koutsi – an ideal place to take panoramic photos. After this, visit a traditional winery for a chance to taste some of the famous Samian wines. Continue the tour through the varied green landscape until you reach the 2nd large town on the island called Karlovassi. Stop here for lunch and admire the beautiful neoclassical houses and mansions.  Next, set off again along the wild and romantic north coast until you reach the enchanting Valley of Nightingales. Enjoy a short walk here and a welcome coffee stop. Finally, finish the tour with a visit to the charming and picturesque fishing village of Kokkari before returning back to Samos Town and Pythagorion where the tour ends.

We were a group of 7 attending this activity . The weather on the day was really sunny with no wind making the experience excellent. The trip, the transfer and overall experience was pretty good . We enjoyed the day visiting the abandoned village and the volcano. Highly recommended this trip and is a must when visiting Kos
