Of course.... Stewart Island were on the bucket list... so we finally made it like so many other kiwi travelers we met. And of course a Ulva Island Tour a must do. We had a great time at Ulva Island, the boat trip was excellent, the staff super friendly, helpful and with great humor and knowledge. On the way to Ulva we stopped at a few bays on the way and received very interesting information. Arrived at Ulva Island and had a fantastic walk with our guide, we were split into two groups, that was great, not so many people in ones. The bush on Ulva is just awesome, all sorts of different greens :-) and our guide very knowledgeable about it. We saw some pretty awesome birds and heart lot of birds singing. Even the day turned out a bit rainy.. it did not matter. It was a well planed time for the visit, walking made very easy and in good speed for everybody. Back on the boat we were welcomed again by our humorous captain. Coffee and tea for free. Clean toilets with good space on board......
This was a really interesting and informative tour and was lucky enough to see Stewart Island robins, Kaka,Weka,Kerry and Bellaire on Ulva Island. Grace was a grest guide and we would highly recommend this tour to potential visitors to Stewart Island
Well worth the cost to have experienced and knowledgeable guides. Without Grace and Henry we would have missed out on so much. We would have walked right passed a feeding kiwi without even knowing it was there. Big thank you.
Anna is a fabulous guide amazing knowledge of birds, flora and fauna made it an extremely interesting walk. Very pretty scenery and baby blue penguins what more could you ask for. Definitely recommend this tour.
The trip out to the island was the highlight with albatross coming in very close to boat. The alternative water taxi would be less than half the price and then use self guide book.
