Reykjavik: Golden Circle, Kerið, & Fridheimar Minibus Tour

2. Reykjavik: Golden Circle, Kerið, & Fridheimar Minibus Tour

Visit Iceland’s natural wonders on this 8-hour minibus tour accompanied by a professional guide. The Golden Circle route covers a 300km loop from Reykjavík to central Iceland and back. Visit Thingvellir, a pivotal landmark that connects all the major events in the founding of the Icelandic commonwealth. It’s also the best place on earth to view the North Atlantic divergent ridge. Stop at Fríðheimar farm, owned by the same family since 1995. The family, besides growing tomatoes and cucumbers, are passionate about horses. Enjoy a truly unique experience and meet the Icelandic horses up close on a visit to the stables. You might get a chance to pet them and maybe take a selfie! Lunch (at your own expense) will be held in the greenhouse where you will have the possibility to purchase local products on the menu after a visit of the stables. See Gullfoss, which is considered the most beautiful of Iceland’s 30,000 waterfalls. You’ll also see Kerið, a striking crater lake filled with milky blue-green water and surrounded by stark black and deep red slopes.

Reykjavik: Silver Circle, Canyon Baths, and Waterfalls Tour

3. Reykjavik: Silver Circle, Canyon Baths, and Waterfalls Tour

Start in Reykjavik and head to Borgarnes, the gateway to West Iceland. Make your first stop at Deildartunguhver, the most powerful hot spring in Europe, which is so strong that it provides hot water and power for the locals for miles around. Spend some time walking amongst the steaming clouds of vapor. Move onto Hraunfossar, also known as the "Lava Waterfalls." Take in the sight from several viewing platforms and see how the water stretches for nearly a kilometer over ancient lava fields, with meltwater from the Langjokull glacier pouring into the Hvita river. Just a few yards away is Barnafoss, also known as “the waterfall of the children,” named after the tragic tale of two local children. Your next stop is Husafell, a breathtaking woodland oasis and a historical site with traditional turf houses and even some “elf huts” to delight the children, too. See intriguing works by local artists, as well as the famous “Lifting Stone of Husafell.” From Husafell, be transported in 4x4 cars further inland to the Deildargil Canyon, where you’ll see Langifoss, a towering two-tiered waterfall off the beaten path and which few people know of. Continue to the highlight of the tour, the Canyon Baths, for a traditional Icelandic hot spring experience at a sustainable, remote location found deep in the magnificent Hringsgil canyon. Bathe in 3 geothermally-heated stone pools of varying temperatures (30-41°C or 86-105°F), along with a cold-water pool and a cooling waterfall. Feel relaxed in the peaceful atmosphere, thanks to the limited capacity of 20 visitors at a time. Imagine what it was like for the early settlers to bathe in the same way. Make your final stop at Reykholt, which used to be the medieval home of Snorri Sturluson, a famous Icelandic historian and chieftain. Visit Snorralaug (Snorri’s Pool), another traditional natural hot spring, where locals have bathed since the 12th century. From there, return to the capital city, after a day of wonder and exploration in the wilds of West Iceland.

Reykjavik: The Golden Circle and Fridheimar Greenhouse Tour

4. Reykjavik: The Golden Circle and Fridheimar Greenhouse Tour

Travel safely and comfortably from Reykjavik to the Golden Circle on a day tour to some of Iceland’s most stunning sights. Start the journey with a visit to the idyllic Friðheimar greenhouse cultivation center, where you can learn about the magic behind growing delicious, pesticide-free tomatoes and cucumbers with the aid of geothermal heat, which Iceland has in abundance. Next up is the Geysir Hot Spring area where Strokkur Geyser shoots water up to 30 meters (98 ft.) into the air every 4-8 minutes in an impressive display of nature’s forces. The colorful landscapes, bubbling mud pools, and steaming geysers make this a truly memorable experience. Continue to Gullfoss waterfall, created by the river Hvítá, which tumbles and plunges into a crevice some 32 meters (105 ft.) deep. Here you are given the opportunity to stand next to the majestic waterfall and perhaps even feel its spray of water on your skin. The tour also includes the historical and geological wonder that is Thingvellir National Park, a UNESCO world heritage site, where the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates pull apart at a rate of a few centimeters per year.

Reykjavik: Golden Circle, Friðheimar, & Sky Lagoon Day Trip

5. Reykjavik: Golden Circle, Friðheimar, & Sky Lagoon Day Trip

This tour begins with our free pickup service in central Reykjavík. The first stop of the day is to Kerið, a volcanic crater formed after an enormous eruption over 1000 years ago. Enjoy the view along the crater top walkway or descend the steps to the lake below. Great photo opportunities are to be found from each vantage point. The next stop is to Friðheimar farm which has a greenhouse, horse farm and restaurant. Here you will meet the tiny icelandic horse and see a horse show demonstration of their unique gaits. Next up you will be taken on a tour of the greenhouse where tomatoes and cucumbers are produced to an impressive scale. Here you will also have a table reservation for lunch though please note that lunch itself is not included in your ticket price. Later you come to Geysir geothermal park, home of the eponymous Geysir, though it is its younger sister Strokkur that now erupts regularly. You will have time to witness several eruptions as it erupts every 7-10 minutes or so. Take a leisurely walk around an see other bubbling pools with the distinctive sulfur smell lingering heavily in the air. Just a short drive from Geysir, lies the immensely powerful waterfall, Gullfoss. This waterfall lies on the Hvitá river which itself is fed by meltwater from Langjökull glacier to the north. Here you are met first by the water mist from the falls before you even see them. Take the walking path down to the falls or stay to the higher path for a bird´s eye view. There is no wrong choice here. The final sightseeing stop of the day is to Thingvellir National Park. Here Icelanders met in an ancient parliament assembly, the longest continuous assembly is the world, though now located in Reykjavík. But perhaps more significantly here one can visibly see the continental rift between the american and euroasian tectonic plates, a rift increasing in size by the year. Walk between the continents! The final part of this fantastic day will be spent at Sky Lagoon where your Pure Pass tickets gives you access to both the lagoon itself with it´s awe-inspiring infinity affect sea view as well as the 7-step Ritual Experience. This includes one of the world´s most stunning sauna with floor to ceiling sea view, body scrub, cold plunge pool and steam bath. After a couple of hours here, you will be dropped back to your respective pickup locations in the downtown area.

This tour is a great way to visit some of the most recognised highlights of Iceland, however the main charm of the tour, the thing that distinguished it from the others with a similar content is the tomato testing. The best tomato ever! Also, we got the chance to cuddle icelandic horses at the same time. We've learned a lot about tomato, horses and bumblebees... This is just a hint of what you'll experience if you choose this tour. Highly recommended!

Thor was a fantastic guide! So accommodating and willing to answer any questions we had. Perfect tour to celebrate our anniversary! Every location was breath taking, especially the sky lagoon! 10/10 would recommend
