Full description

Embark on a guided day trip through the lush pastures of Ireland from Dublin. Tour the vast Wicklow Mountains and see the monastery of Glendalough. Lose yourself in the medieval lanes of Kilkenny.

Depart from Dublin and set off on a luxury bus to Glendalough. As you journey out of the city, your guide will fill you in on many interesting facts and fun stories about Dublin.

Arrive at Glendalough, considered one of the most beautiful corners of Ireland. Enjoy an optional guided tour of the monastic settlement and some free time to explore the area or relax at a local café.

The more adventurous can opt to take a hike to the Upper Lake and return via a boardwalk (approx. 2.5 km). The route takes you past the Lower Lake through a stunning nature trail that leads deep into the valley and on to the Upper Lake.

Continue through the Wicklow Mountains. As you drive, your guide will tell you about its geology and history. Pass through famous movie locations featured in P.S. I Love You and Braveheart. Stop for a 10-minute photo opportunity at the Wicklow Gap before a scenic ride to Kilkenny.

Once you reach Kilkenny, have free time to navigate the narrow lanes and historic buildings. Admire its extraordinary castle where you can picnic, or enjoy lunch in the local pubs. Then, join an optional guided tour of the city before making your way back to Dublin.

We had a great tour today to Glendalough. Our tour guide Pat was brilliant. You can clearly tell that Pat is passionate about his job. He is extremely friendly and has a great sense of humour. We thoroughly enjoyed visiting some the of the Irish countryside whilst visiting Dublin. Thank you to Pat and driver Willie for a great day

We came to see the clouded hills of Glendalough and the fabled streets of Kilkenny, but upon reflection we were here for the undiscovered duo of Pat and Alec. Gorgeous views of an untouched Ireland, the crystal lakes hidden behind the monastic city, the mysteries of a small town. These are just a few of the pleasures you can enjoy against the steady rhythm of Pat’s rich historic commentary. We came to Dublin for a weekend and a simple bus holiday was the highlight. Dive in for a tour that will take you away from the rest of the world… and make sure you ask for Pat and Alec.

This tour went beyond both my friend’s and my expectations. From beginning to end the tour was enlightening, comfortable, and that is all thanks to our exceptional guide, Pat, and our excellent driver, Paul. Taking Pat’s walking tour in Kilkenny gave us a special look inside the city’s vast history. At the end of the tour, Pat read us a heartwarming poem that he had written for our journey, which made this trip truly more personal and special.
