The tour only started at 12:30 and not at 06:00 as it was advertised. But I was informed about it the day before. There were four of us on the tour, there were single kayaks and doubles. Unfortunately it rained here and so no animals showed up. After 1.5 hours the kayak only tour was over and we were taken to a restaurant where there was a delicious local meal. I chose fish and it was delicious. Would book this tour again if the sun was shining.

We started at 12.30 and not 5.30 in the morning due to the tide. First we went to pick up all the guests and the kayaks and water for everybody and then drove around 15 minutes to the mangroves. The tour itself was almost 2 hrs and was really great. We did not see a lot of fauna because the tide was extremely high due to rains/full moon and I guess because of the time. However we learned a lot about the mangrove ecosystem from our very knowledgeable guide. After the tour (DO bring spare clothing and a towel, you’ll get wet), we went for a late lunch in the restaurant of Tucanes tours and then back to the hotel.

Our guides Daniel, Cesar, & our driver Carlos were excellent. They were very knowledgeable and friendly. The water is very tame so it is easy to paddle and there was shade through much of the kayak tour. The tour leaves according to the high tide, so even though it initially said that the tour started at 0600 am, we got an email saying that we were not actually going to be picked up until 1150 am. They took us to have a buffet lunch first and then we drove about 10 minutes to Damas island where the kayaking actually took place. We saw monkeys, iguanas, crabs, and many different types of birds.
