Our two fully-packed days begin in Jerusalem, as we head toward the Jordanian border. We cross at the King Hussein / Allenby border, and enter Jordan, driving through the Judean desert for about an hour. We continue towards Madaba, an ancient Jordanian city, and go up to the viewpoint of Mount Nebo. Then we will have lunch and go visit Kerak known for its Crusader castle, the Kerak Castle. The castle is one of the three largest castles in the region. From here we will go to a Bedouin camp near Petra where you will enjoy Bedouin hospitality, including an Arab-style dinner and a comfortable bed for the night. Before going to sleep, sit beneath the clear desert skies and stargaze, as you drink a cup of delicious Bedouin tea. On the second day, we will tour Petra. One of the seven wonders of the world, and Jordan’s most treasured attraction, Petra is an unforgettable place. It was carved into the red rocks of the soaring cliffs in the early 1st century as the tomb of a Nabataean king and was hidden under sand for centuries before recently becoming accessible again. We will enter through the Siq, a narrow gorge, and tour the Treasury and Amphitheater with our guide who will explain the sites and history as you marvel at the beauty of each structure. Then you will have free time to continue individually as you wish: climb to the Royal Tombs, walk down the Roman Cardo, hike up to the Monastery, and explore the different sites. We will meet up for lunch in Wadi Musa before returning back to Jerusalem via the Allenby border crossing. This fully guided tour, including full transportation and comprehensive information, can be further enhanced by using our travel app for smartphones and tablets. Day 1: Petra There will be a flight at 06:30 a.m. from the Ben Gurion airport in Tel Aviv. We will pick you up from Eilat Airport of Ramon at about 07:40 a.m. and take you to the Arava border. Drive to Petra in an air-conditioned vehicle. When we arrive at the visitor center, we will start the tour. We will see the Treasury House, the tombs the Roman Theater, and more. You will learn about the Nabataens history, their art, their gods, and more. After 3 hours of walking and learning, we will eat lunch in one of the local restaurants. After lunch you will be taken to Wadi Rum, where you can sleep in a Bedouin style tent, and enjoy the atmosphere and the quiet of the desert. Day 2: Wadi Rum After breakfast in the Bedouin camp, we will start the touring day. A drive of about 2 hours on 4x4 wheels will take you to a magnificent landscape. We will introduce you to the Nabataens ways, and the Bedouin way of life. After the tour drive back to the Arava border and to the Eilat Airport for your flight back to Tel Aviv. Arrive back in Eilat at around 15:30, and the flight out is usually around 20:40. (You may have some extra time before your flight)

After passing the Obelisks in front of the cave, you will enter the narrow, 1,200 meter long canyon, the Siq, where you have the option to ride for the first few hundred meters. As you walk through the gorge with the towering red stone on either side, you can marvel at the incredible sites carved into the red mountain. The magnificent exterior of the treasury with its Corinthian columns is particularly well-preserved as it is deeply carved into the rock and protected by overhanging rock. To give you an idea of the height, the funeral urn alone, tucked away up in the heart of the exterior is eleven feet high.  The monumental building known as Ad Deir, is over forty meters high, its columns reaching more than two stories. At the Roman theater, you can all but wonder who filled the seats. Marvel at the sacrificial altar and the numerous tombs, each uniquely designed. After a late lunch, you will cross back to Eilat.

It was totally worth it, amazing experience. Our driver Nidal was very kind and easy going he was great during the whole trip. Our guide in Petra named Khaled was amazing as well, he explained everything in a clear way and was very nice to us. He is a local so it was even better to hear the story of Petra with him.
