What people are saying about Adeje

The 8 minute cable cars took us up to near the very top of mount Teide, the views above the clouds were simply outstanding, worth every penny , we were left to explore these stunning views with the options to walk on trails either left or right to further explore the views down into the valley and the coastline, then after about an hour we got the cable cars bak down, plenty of time to get food and drink in the restaurant and use toilet facilities before we boarded our coach. The guide was lvly and gave us lots of interesting information about the history of tiede and Tenerife , its formation and plenty of panaramic views which will last us a life time . I recommend this tour to anyone visiting tenerife that do not have any health issues as the air is very fresh and thin up there not appropriate for anyone with heart conditions though please read the guidance information carefully before booking .

The trip was very well organised - we were provided with a commentary in 3 languages and learned a lot about the island of Tenerife and Mount Teide. We had 2 photo stops on the way back that were well selected for their views. We got the tickets for the cable car and were able to see the great view from the top. If I was to include the only room for improvement, it was that there was not enough time for us to even go to the Pico Viejo viewing point - we had 1.5 hours to take the cable car there and back, but the cable car including the queue for it took 30 mins each way. We had to turn around from the walk to Pico Viejo before we got there, and had no time to explore the other side of the peak.

Although it was cloudy all day on the coast, we soon rose through the clouds and emerged into a very impressive volcanic landscape under blue skies and sunshine. While waiting for the wind speed to drop so that we could make the cable car ascent to the summit of Teide, our guide led us on an informative walk around the local rock formations. I learned much from this, as indeed from the commentary we heard while driving to and from the national park area. Sadly, the wind did not drop and we were unable to reach the summit of Teide but this did not ruin the tour. It was worth seeing the interior of the island, which is spectacular. The summit would have been a bonus but there’s always next time!

This was such a wonderful tour. Amazingly friendly and informative guide Steffi navigated talking to people of different nationalities with ease. The bus journey was comfortable and we were very grateful for the early start- it gets incredibly busy at the cable car station. Be aware, the hike (it’s steep and rocky) to the summit may seem short in distance but the altitude makes a big difference. You have to take it slowly. Steffi checked on us all the way up which was so reassuring. The views and sense of achievement at the summit are fantastic. Thoroughly recommend this tour.

You can do this hike by taking the cable car then walking the last bit but I wanted to walk the whole thing. Steffi was great at keeping us on track so we would make the summit in time and also making sure those at a different pace were not left behind. The views are spectacular and well worth the effort. I really enjoyed chatting with others; we had such a friendly group of people from all over the world. If you get to the summit, be prepared to feel totally amazed at the views and the achievement!
