Full description

Come to Agrigento and discover one of Sicily's most famous historical attractions, for its well-preserved Doric temples dedicated to Greek divinities, the famous Valley of the Temples. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, this Archaeological Park is located on a plateau close to the Strait of Sicily.

Follow your guide to explore this site where time seems to stand still, preserving an unprecedented historical charm. Start the tour from the temple of Hera, continuing on the sacred way to the remains of the surrounding wall.

Inside the Valley, see 12 temples as well as some fortifications, the Lower and Upper Agora, an Olympian, and a Bouleuterion. Source of inspiration for poets, philosophers, and painters, it is one of the most emblematic parks in Sicily.

Admire Doric temples from the Hellenic period, that correspond to the ancient Akragas, the original monumental nucleus of the city of Agrigento. Move onward to the Temple of Concord, the remains of the early Christian Necropolis, the Temple of Heracles, and the remains of the Temple of Zeus.

Very interesting visit in the Valley of the Temples. Almost certainly, without the support of a guide, you would not be able to enjoy enough of the beauty and charm of the site. We had a really smart one, Lida, who was able to be highly informative without ever being boring. Thank you very much!

Agrigento is a very large and potentially overwhelming site to explore. Having a guide to walk through the ruins and provide historical context is a must! Liz was a great guide and provided excellent historical context switching smoothly between Italian and English. She was very kind and waited for our group after we went to the wrong entry gate and showed up about 15 min late. The group size was a bit large but for the price offered it is a great deal. Note you should pay attention to the meeting point and leave time to take a 10-15 min cab from the train station in agrigento. Don’t make our mistake and try to walk from the train!
