What people are saying about Akumal

our guide was very knowledgeable of both the Mayan culture and shared the history as we walked around Tulum. We also got free time to go off on our own. The snorkeling trip to Akumal was well organized, restrooms and changing rooms were clean. Everyone stayed as a group when we were in the water, and guides knew where to go to see turtles, fish and even stingrays. The only downside to the tour was we had an 8 o'clock pick up. We were transferred to a second bus at 8:30 with people who had been waiting for over an hour, then had to transfer to a third bus. It took us two hours to get to Tulum, which is only a 40 minute drive from the hotel, other than that everything was perfect

Great tour! Carmen, the tour guide gives good background and historical knowledge on the Mayan history, including details on the architecture, sculptures, and art. She has a friendly personality! I liked that this group tour is actually small, we had about 10 people so it was easy to interact and ask questions. The only thing is that the back most seat was uncomfortable, however, all other seats were good. Ek Balam and the tequila tasting felt like a bonus, and the buffet is good with vegetarian options.

For me the Cenotes and Tortuga (turtle) swimming were the absolute highlights of my life. Although I gave the tour high marks I did not enjoy the Tulum Archeological part as much because there was construction going on which was disrupting although that is not the tour operator’s fault. The cenotes and stop at the Mayan community with artisans and buffet was also a more quiet experience with fewer other tourists and a refreshing swim. But best of all was the snorkeling. Flippers down.

I liked everything about it. we were a small group of 7 people, our guide Maria Carmen was so a good person, just really lovable. she showed us a lot of places besides the touristic spots and gave us a lot of information about the history. I'd enjoyed it a lot and would totally recommend this tour. it is a little more expensive 5han others but in my opinion it's totally worth it. we got free water the hole day, there wasn't any rush, we had enough time at all places.

I absolutely loved this trip. Carmen, our guide, really went the extra mile in so many moments-even became a babysitter for our two year old to allow my to climb Ek Balam and for my husband to walk around the perimeter of the ruin. She was amazingly knowledgeable and I learned so much. Plus, she has a delightful personality. I would highly highly recommend this tour.
