You will be picked up from the lobby of your hotel in La Fortuna, and after 25 minutes of driving you will arrive to the Peñas Blancas River. Before you begin your tour, your guide will provide you with an orientation talk about how to conduct yourself while you are seating in the boat. Following this, your tour will begin. You will ride in your raft at dusk, as the sun is just starting to fall, and enjoy the mystical way the light disappears from the sky, leaving you in the peaceful darkness of the jungle. Your bilingual river guide who are trained as naturalists will do the rowing, while you relax and enjoy the abundant nocturnal wildlife of the Peñas Blancas River. Explore the protected Tortuguero National Park in the Limón Province, reachable only by airplane or boat. Take in the wealth of biodiversity in its eleven different habitats, including rainforest, mangrove forests, swamps, beaches, and lagoons. Trip itinerary: Day 1: After an early morning hotel pickup, admire the biodiversity of a primary forest through the window as you drive past Braulio Carrillo National Park. Sample a delicious Costa Rican breakfast during the drive. Mid-morning, board a comfortable boat and travel along the Tortuguero Canals. Simply great! Awesome rafting, super nice and competent captains and guides! Great extras: a snack of fresh local fruits, wildlife sightings, a drift down rapids outside of the raft, a traditional costa-rican lunch, lots of laughs… Our kids loved it too. Really really worth it!!!!!

Calm and magical atmosphere, listening to different sounds of wilderness. Guides were quite knowledgeable. Many wildlife sightings: howler monkeys, opossums, bats, caymans, birds, lightbugs... Great local homemade snacks at the end of the trip. Thanks to all the organizers!
