The cruise begins by searching for wildlife in the protected waters of Resurrection Bay. Whales, sea otters, and puffins are often sighted within minutes of leaving the harbor. A National Park Ranger will provide information on the area's wildlife, glaciers, fjords, and history. Stop at one tidewater glacier that has frequent calving events, where giant chunks of glacial ice break off and crash into the water. The hot springs felt good. The ice hotel was fun to see. Getting the appletini drink took almost the whole hour as there was one person making drinks and a VERY LARGE crowd that was scheduled for the tour. The atmosphere of the activity center, which is where the night sky viewing room is, was like that of a basic ski center or camp type situation. There was a long wait in the main dining room so we ended up buying soup in a bowl to heat in the microwave at the activity center.

  • From Fairbanks: Northern Lights and Arctic Circle Tour

    8. From Fairbanks: Northern Lights and Arctic Circle Tour

The travel itinerary is flexible to ensure guests can take advantage of unique photo opportunities. Who would have thought I could say a 15hr van ride with 9 strangers on a supremely bumpy road, was fun?! It was awesome! All the stops were well timed, informative, and beautiful. The guide, Jake, was knowledgeable, and skilled at navigating the Dalton. And even though the clouds were there,he showed us it was possible to see the Northern Lights burning through in some places. The skies did clear up some on the drive back, and even though it was 3am, our guide still made sure to stop where he could so we could all get out and look up. Had a great time and 10/10 would do again.

This was the highlight of our Alaska trip! I never had so much fun driving in my 82 years as I did behind the wheel of this ATV! My husband said my smile never left my face! I was fortunate to be right behind the guide, so I was not afraid following her! And I kept up! The scenery was beautiful! I enjoyed the stops and the history, short talks and information the guides presented. We got our money's worth! That's for sure! So glad I got to mark this off my bucket list! I would do again in a heart beat! Wonderful guides!

I have thousands of flight hours, both in General Aviation and in Military aircraft, and this was hands down my favorite flight of all time! The up-close mountain and glacier views were just breathtaking! If you plan to visit Alaska, this is absolutely a MUST DO!
