One of the final sights you’ll see is Fort Washington. Completed in 1809, this military defense guarded the nation’s capital until 1814, when it was destroyed by its own garrison. After three hours spent soaking up these iconic sights from the water, you’ll arrive at the Mount Vernon ready to continue your exploration.
