Learn about Dutch culture and history as you discover the area of Zaanse Schans on a half-day bicycle tour from Amsterdam. Meet your guide at Amsterdam Central Station and travel to Zaandam by train to start the bicycle tour. Cycle past industrial windmills and admire the beautiful landscape. Stop at a sawmill to learn how it operates, and visit a paper mill to see how paper was made in the 17th century. Pedal through the stunning wetlands, painted by Monet at the end of the 19th century. Pass the neighborhood of Domineestuin, filled with authentic wooden houses, before arriving in Zaanse Schans. Park your bicycle and enjoy a demonstration of how clogs are made. Take the opportunity to taste delicious Gouda cheese, a local specialty. After a fantastic half-day experience, return by bike to Zaandam and board the train back to Amsterdam Central Station, where your tour will end.

The tour was beautiful. The guide was communicative and answered all of our questions. The group was small (6 people) so we could hear everything and we've been more relaxed with each other than in tours with bigger groups. We had enough stops to rest and take amazing photos

Must do activity in Amsterdam! Goes off the beaten path to show you the countryside trekked by local people. Hans was a wonderful guide and very connected to the local community. See the landscape inspired by Monet, go up in an original windmill (active on Saturdays), taste local cheese, and see how clogs made - all done by bike. Cannot recommend this tour enough - one-of-a-kind experience that minimizes the crowds to see the area in all its glory!

Excellent day away from central Amsterdam. A real opportunity to experience the vast clean countryside. Hans was an exceptional tour guide and immediately made my husband and I feel at ease for the entire day. Hans took us to visit windmills, a cheese factory and a clog making factory.
