Amsterdam has an excellent tram and bus service. We stayed a distance away from the centre but found it easy to navigate the transport system into the areas we wanted to visit and the 3 day pre paid travel card made it much easier to get on and off without worrying about payment.

These tickets are great for that price. Do not underestimate the distance between (for example) the museum area and the shopping area. You have to walk a lot!! But with the tram you can get anywhere you want. BUT if you get the tickets online, you have to exchange the code on your phone to a card. You can do that at the train station, so if you do not arrive in Amsterdam via train, you might need to pay the first tram ride to the train station, in order to get the card.
