Full description
Enjoy a private and flexible tour based on your group's interests and availability. Meet your guide at the lobby of your hotel in Guatemala City and begin the 2-hour transfer to Antigua. On the road, learn about Guatemala from your expert guide.   Upon arrival, visit the Central Plaza where you’ll find locals going about their daily lives selling handmade products and gastronomy. Learn about the four ruling powers of Antigua and its history as the capital of Central America. Later, visit a cathedral that has been destroyed several times due to earthquakes where today Catholic masses take place in one aisle, and Mayan ceremonies take place the other.   Next, visit the original Jade Factory and Museum where you can learn about the Mayan sacred stone and find jade accessories at local prices. The tour continues as you see a convent where nuns lived for approximately 20 years where you’ll be impressed by the beauty of the ruins and visit a temple that still holds Catholic masses to this day.  After the tour, if there is enough time, you may have lunch at a restaurant or enjoy a snack at a coffee shop at your own expense before the transfer back to Guatemala City.
