Medellín: Coffee Tour With Tastings and Lunch

1. Medellín: Coffee Tour With Tastings and Lunch

Head out to San Sebastián de Palmitas, just 45 minutes from Medellín, to begin your unique coffee tour. After hotel pick-up, set off for a coffee-making farm and enjoy listening to a brief history about the origin of the coffee and how it was first brought to Colombia. Take the chance to dress in the typical costume of the paisa muleteer, including hat, poncho, paruma, and the tail of a rooster. Later, move on to a coffee plantation to carry out the coffee harvest, reducing the mixture to a pulp and finally, drying it. After these activities, sit down for a refreshing drink of musilago (coffee juice) and a tea made from the coffee pulp. Savor a typical dish from the region made of banana with honey and cheese. Hear your guide explain some techniques on how to prepare and drink coffee and have a short tasting of different coffees and servings. Later, try a typical dish of the paisa muleteer consisting of rice, yuca, ground beef, boiled egg, sausage, and banana. Try preparing your coffee to your own taste with the information you have just learned from your guide. Finally, receive a pack of coffee as a gift and have the chance to buy farm products at the shop. If the option is chosen, also experience a 2-hour horseback ride through the farm to some viewpoints. All instructions will be given to inexperienced riders.

Cartagena: Beach Horse Ride and Colombian Horse Culture

2. Cartagena: Beach Horse Ride and Colombian Horse Culture

Ride a horse along a scenic beach in Cartagena with a bilingual, English and Spanish-speaking guide. Find out about the local Colombian Paso Fino horse breed, and enjoy a small-group experience for no more than 6 people. Begin your activity with hotel pickup in Cartagena and get transferred comfortably to the ranch. Upon arrival, listen to an in-depth explanation about the Colombian Paso Fino, see how well the horses are cared for, and watch a demonstration of what they can do. From there, you'll be taken to the beach and paired with the perfect horse for your experience level, whether you've never ridden before or are an expert rider. Set off on your ride along the beach, and feel the smoothness of your horse's gait — paso fino means fine step. Disconnect from everything and tune in to the sound of the waves. Enjoy the sea breeze on your face, and have your photos taken by your guide so you can just focus on having an amazing time. After a couple of hours, you'll be taken to a beachfront restaurant where you can enjoy the ocean and sun while lunch is served before you are taken back to your hotel.

What people are saying about Antioquia

My girlfriend and I enjoyed the tour very much. Very informative about the process of making different types of coffee and how to recognize good quality coffee. The tour is bilingual, Don Carlos, the owner of the farm did the English part and he is a very cheerful and amicable person, taking his time to explain things and making sure we understood everything. The Spanish part was done by a girl, my girlfriend was attending that part as she is from Colombia. She was very amicable and funny and explained everything very well too. Me and my girlfriend were the only people in the group that did the additional horse ride, I've never ridden a horse in my life but Don Carlos made sure to explain everything and his employee helped me throughout the horse tour. Overall it was a great experience and we would really like to do it again when we return to Medellín in the future.

we really enjoyed the tour, Mateo was our guide he was very knowledgeable & explained the process of making coffee, what makes a good coffee, best practices for buying & preparing coffee. the lunch was also good, quite tasty & filling.

Carlos Valle is such an exceptional teacher and coffee guru. Not only he was punctual and professional - his finca and the way he teaches coffee to the general public is worth of filming a documentary series.

El tour es perfecto! amamos cada detalle de el, todas las atenciones del personal y la explicacion del cafe de manera jocosa, estuvo maravillosa! Lo recomiendo mil veces.

Very good tour and great tour guide. Not too long and the lunch, snacks, and tastings really good.
