Who would have thought I could say a 15hr van ride with 9 strangers on a supremely bumpy road, was fun?! It was awesome! All the stops were well timed, informative, and beautiful. The guide, Jake, was knowledgeable, and skilled at navigating the Dalton. And even though the clouds were there,he showed us it was possible to see the Northern Lights burning through in some places. The skies did clear up some on the drive back, and even though it was 3am, our guide still made sure to stop where he could so we could all get out and look up. Had a great time and 10/10 would do again.

It was a very enjoyable ride on a beautiful day. It was a long day & that was expected. There were stops for bathroom breaks & stretching your legs along the way & also opportunities to view & take pictures of the spectacular landscape. Our guide, Dave was extremely knowledgeable & very personable & shared many tidbits of info along the way. Lunch was fun! The mosquitoes appear to rival ours in Minnesota. I have a whole new respect for the men & women who drive The Dalton regularly. We were quite surprised at how warm the weather was & thoroughly enjoyed the day.

What people are saying about Arctic Circle, Alaska

I highly recommend. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable with much experience driving the Dalton highway, which was reassuring since it is so dangerous to drive. We took various stops along the way to the Arctic Circle and then stopped again afterwards for the northern lights. The visibility reading was low, but we still saw the lights since it was a clear night and they were beautiful and like nothing I’ve ever seen before. I also highly recommend looking out the window during the car ride back after stopping to see the lights because I saw more lights in the car after we stopped and the they were more impressive too. Plus, you have to added benefit of not freezing outside.

The experience is unique and worth doing. Having lived in Sweden and having visited Iceland, visiting the Arctic Circle from Northern America, was a meaningful target. You get to see plenty of unusual landscapes. Jake is very knowledgeable and provided answers to all questions we had. Probably if the fly visitors on one direction would be a more efficient a way of doing this trip.

Dave is a great guide. We really enjoyed the trip even though we didn’t get to see a lot of northern lights. Some nights they are just not going to show.
