Rome: The Archbasilica of St. John in Lateran
- Duration: 2.5 hours
Other than making the initial connection, everything was very good. It would be helpful to better identify the office in which to pick up tickets and get oriented. We were at St. John Lateran at the requested time, but didn’t get started on our tour for about 30 minutes waiting in line and for instructions and help from the tour office, which was not part of Get Your Guide Brother Obert, our guide for the catacombs, was a joy
Marlee was fantastic. Incredibly knowledgeable, passionate about her work and very personable. She put a fresh perspective on some of the artwork pushing us to look at it from a different point of view. The tour was three hours long, but it certainly did not feel like 3 hours. I could have listened to Marlee for another 3 hours.
Perfect for us, very helpfull. Still, I would find very useful a meeting point at Termini Station, where are all the connections for the city. Nevertheless, I think it was a good idea to take the offers.
Our Catacombs guide was quite brusque and not as friendly as others I have experienced during this trip. Did not encourage any questions, nor any observatio s,he did his job and that was it!
The catacombs were very interesting but you had to make your own way to them by public transport, from St John's Basilica. This was not made clear when I booked them as a joint tour.
