After a 4 hour train ride going from Athens to Kalambaka, we are picked up by the tour guide. The views and incredible once they take us is near the monasteries. There are 3 monasteries that you go to, and in each you pay 3 euros. The first one is a little bit of a climbing stairs but at the top you have amazing views. Make sure you check your email the day before to get your round trip train tickets because nobody is waiting for you at the Athens train station.

The train ride seemed long but it was 100% worth it. Seeing the monasteries was an incredible experience. Seemed out of this world. Bring a poncho and water. The guides are awesome and stopped for us. Women need a skirt below the knees. Some provide little wraps for this. Make sure you have cash.

Best part of our trip! The long train ride was worth it. The views are stunning and magical, and the whole process was very easy despite it being a cold day and dumping rain. We easily found the minibus. They let us off for snacks and ponchos before heading to the monasteries. Our tour guide Chris was excellent!! He was so knowledgeable, fun, and he even helped us take incredible pictures. Then we had a chance to eat dinner in town (with recommendations from the guide) before heading back to Athens.
