Get on the bus at your accommodation and head to Abisko National Park at night. Go to all the best spots to see the aurora. Stop to take photos if you see the northern lights. Your guide will help you to take the best photos if you need it. Then, go for a short walk by the Abisko canyon. Keep an eye out for the northern lights. Then, have a break to enjoy some warm lingonberry juice and some sweet snacks from the local bakery. Afterward, get back on the bus and drive back to Kiruna. Finally, get off the bus at your hotel to finish the experience.

Our tours starting point is in Poikkijärvi a village by Torneriver 15 km from Kiruna city. At the camp you will be equipped with high quality snowmobile gear aimed for snowmobiling adventures in the Arctic climate. Snowmobile gear: overall, shoes, gloves, facemask, helmets and wool socks. So you come with your own clothes and we will provide you with the extra top layer customized for the outdoors. When we are dressed and ready, we will go to the snowmobiles for safety instructions and educate you how to drive the snowmobile. Never driven a snowmobile before? -No problem! Everyone is a beginner the first time. Our experienced guide will teach you how to drive in a safe and fun way so we will have the best possible experience. At the end of the tour it will feel like its a peace of cake. As a driver for the snowmobile you need a valid driving licens for car in your country, as a passenger you only need to bring your camera to capture some of your moments on a photo. Okey, let the fun begin. We will go on tour that’s approx 32 km through the variety of the landscapes in the area on the river, lakes, forest and mountains. You will be in the winter wonderland. Far away from the light pollutions surrounding the town. The dark sky will increase your chances of seeing aurora borealis dancing in the sky. Halfway we will stop for a Swedish fika. Here is a good place to switch driver if you are going on a shared snowmobile. We will help you to immortalize your memorys with pictures, so you can return to this place when ever you want again. Back at the camp we changes clothes and the minibus will drive you back to your accommodation. (We can not guarantee that the northern light is visible because its a weather phenomenon beyond or control. But we can guarantee that we will do our best for you to have a wonderful experience anyway.)

Capture the true feeling of a winter night in the arctic. Your guide will take you to learn the wintry way of movement with snowshoes. While walking on the snow, you will experience how the milky light of the moon and stars cast enchanting shadows through the snowfields. In Abisko there is a lot of animals that dwell in the birch forest during winter, so the possibility to see a lot of tracks is quite big. Most likely you will see tracks of forest hare, ptarmigan, foxes, lemmings, and if you are lucky you might even spot tracks form a moose. During the tour we will have a break and enjoy some warm berry juice while the only sound you hear is the sough of the forest and fells. If you are lucky, you may even see the Northern Lights dance over the lake Torneträsk and over the mountaintops. If there is a full moon and a clear sky you will also get a spectacular view over the Abisko mountain range which includes one of Sweden’s most famous mountain formations Lapporten which is a U-valley sculptured by the ice age.

Enjoy a magical evening around the crackling fire in the tipi outside the beautiful Lodge Máttaráhkka where you also get to visit the reindeer. After we have enjoyed the tipi dinner, we drive with easy-to-maneuver snowmobiles up to the top of Mt. Ednamvárri away from the light pollution. The mountaintop offers endless views over the Arctic tundra and the Abisko Alps The guide will bring a camera and take pictures throughout the entire evening for your memories. Welcome to our home! Details 4h, Pick up time 10:15 PM, drop off 02:30 AM We will pick you up at your hotel in Kiruna at 22:15 and drive out to our village 15km outside of Kiruna. Here we provide you with winter overalls, winter boots, mittens and winter hats. We put on our snowshoes and have explore along the frozen Kalix River to spot the Northern Light and take photos. After the snowshoe hike we arrive at our tipi tent and have a BBQ by the campfire. We serve coffee and tea after the dinner. If we are lucky with the Northern Light we will remain in the area after dinner but if the weather is cloudy we will to drive you towards Nikkaluokta or Abisko to see if the night sky clears up when we change the area. At about 02:30 we will be back in Kiruna at your hotel. On this Aurora Kiruna Midnight Session we spend the night away from the city lights to have the best conditions possible for seeing the aurora in Kiruna. In the case where there is a very low or zero chance, we will contact you to reschedule you for a better night.

With the local guide, your evening begins with a visit to the reindeer next to the lodge where we will also have a big tipi dinner around the fire. After enjoying a good BBQ meal we hit the road with a warm and comfortable minivan driving you around calm roads around Lapland to the very best viewing points to experience the majestic Northern Lights. The road between Rovaniemi and Kiruna takes around 4,5 hours at summer time and 5 hours at winter season. There is a stop at the gas station in the middle of the journey. Our minibuses are: Mercedes Vito, VW Caravelle, Opel Vivaro, Renault Traffic. The vans can easily fit up to 8 passengers and have a large luggage compartment.
