    Full description
    Depart Ponta Delgada and journey along the south coast of São Miguel before heading towards the Furnas Valley to experience its dramatic volcanic landscape. Stop at the village of Lagoa en route and visit a traditional pottery. Marvel at the former capital of the island at Vila Franca do Campo. Upon arrival in the Furnas Valley, go to the lake to enjoy a lunch of authentic cozido na caldeira (traditional Portuguese stew) cooked using the heat of the volcanic soil. Savor the ingredients characteristic of this typical dish. Next, go to the belvedere of the Pico do Ferro for a panoramic view of the valley. Return to Ponta Delgada via the island's north road, and stop at the site of Europe's only tea plantations and tea factory.

    Wonderful tour! Our guide was extremely knowledgeable about the island and local fare. The day we took the tour, the north side of the island was extremely cloudy so he altered the trip and took us south. It was ABSOLUTELY worth it and truly stunning. We still hit all of the stops but we’re able to experience a more scenic side of the island. Would HIGHLY recommend this tour. We had a rental car and still opted for this to have the conversations and share knowledge with our guide. Would do this again

    We had a fantastic tour with Nuno who was the perfect guide. He took his time and we never felt rushed at all. He was knowledgeable of all of the places we visited. It was a small group of 7 people. We visited the highlight of the eastern part of the island including the tea plantation and the thermal pools of Furnas. We had a fantastic tradition Azorean lunch in Furnas. We saw how it was cooked in the thermal ground in Furnas. It was so much fun.

    Like others have said, this trip was wonderful. The first best part to the special day was pick-up directly at my hostel. Hugo was friendly and made our small group feel right at home together. It was my last day in Sao Miguel and I wanted to make the most of it. This trip fulfilled that: the spectacular views and surprise stops kept coming throughout the day. For instance, I did not expect to see 3 of the places we ended up seeing during the day, on top the main attractions we were expecting. Hugo allowed us to take our time at each stop. It made for a special day.
