Full description

Tour the region of Kanchanaburi in West Thailand and uncover local history on this guided day trip. During this memorable day trip from Bangkok, visit the Death Railway which was put on the map by the 1957 movie, 'Bridge Over the River Kwai.'

Begin at one of the country’s best-loved national parks, Erawan National Park. Connect with pristine nature at the Erawan Waterfall which has seven tiers, turquoise pools, and a set of limestone caves at its base.

Continue to the JEATH Museum, dedicated to the Allied Prisoners of War who died building the Burmese railway. This museum is a sad yet important reminder of Thailand’s history. It’s thought that over 100,000 lives were lost during this period.

Finally, visit the historic Bridge over the River Kwai. Have the chance to walk over the bridge, admire the impressive scenery, and take a moment to remember the past, before returning to your accommodations/meeting point in the evening.

Prepare for a long day! We really enjoyed ourselves, the best part was the waterfalls for sure! I would almost skip the prison of war tour as that needs some serious renovation... but so do all the other museums there. The only real thing to see is the bridge itself and understand and read the history. The guide didn't really tell us too much about this.

Fantastic tour and our guide and driver were brilliant; because it's a little distance from Bangkok we had breaks in the journey which was appreciated. JEATH museum was eye opening to the absolutely horrific atrocities that happened during that time, but definitely worth a visit. Erawan NP was absolutely beautiful, but it should be noted that to get to the higher levels of the falls, the steps are steep and high and a good level of fitness is needed. Would highly recommend

Amazing trip with informative guides, the river Kwai bridge was great and then make sure to pack your swimming costume because jumping into the waterfalls is very fun. Myself and my partner made it up to level 5, we had planned to go all the way to 7, but you'd need a lot more time to do so, unless you weren't as bothered with getting into each waterfall. Overall would highly recommend.
