Full description

Enjoy a small-group tour of the magnificent temple ruins of Ayutthaya, the capital during the golden age of Siam. All entrance fees, an expert guide, and lunch at a local restaurant are included. Travel from Bangkok in a comfortable, air-conditioned vehicle or choose to join the tour at your first stop in Ayutthaya, Wat Lokayasutha. This temple is known for its giant reclining Buddha image, one of the few structures remaining intact here. Your next stop is Wat Phra Sri Sanphet, being part of the royal palace complex this is where royalty performed rituals. It is considered the most important temple of Ayutthaya. Then, visit Wat Mahathat Ayutthaya. One of the oldest and most significant temples in the history of Ayutthaya, it once housed the Buddha's holy relic. Admire the famous Buddha head entwined within the roots of a Bodhi tree. After, tuck into a hearty lunch at a local Thai restaurant, where your guide will be available to advise on local culinary specialties. A tour of almost a whole day, our Guide, a Thai, spoke English and told us many rich stories about Thailand throughout the journey, water was served in the shuttler, a super comfortable mini bus with air conditioning. Already on site, our guide demonstrated to fully know the history of each place we were visiting, in addition to being in a good mood, stopping for breakfast (already included). We returned around 2 pm to Bangkok. The only warning is that they check about the bus leaving you back at the hotel or at the pick-up point, because my reservation said that in addition to the pick-up, the drop off would be at the same pick-up point, and they left us together with all guests in one location in Bangkok, had to go back on my own.

Paul was an amazing tour guide! He knew so much about the temples, was funny and gave us lots of tips for what snacks to try and things to do in Bangkok. The bus had AC and was a pleasant journey (only about 1 hour) and the meal was very good!

Good value, good comfortable mini-bus, informative and very helpful guide and good driver. Very well run. Good, simple lunch with view of one of the sites. Hotel pickup was on time. They made sure, before we left the hotel lobby, that we had any additional clothing needed at religious sites. There was plenty of time at each stop for us to view more details of the site, ask questions, and/or shop for food or souvenirs at nearby stands. The guide, nicknamed Boise, provided a lot of historical information, some introduction to the Thai language, and information on current Thai events, economy, and how to find certified jewel production and sales and reliable tuk tuks and avoiding scammers. “Kai”, the driver was skillful, helpful, and friendly, and they coordinated the two hotel pickup vans well.
