Visit the ornate murals of the Grand Palace or take in the Bang Pa-In Summer Palace at Ayutthaya. The Summer Palace is set on lovely grounds on the banks of the Chao Praya River and is one of the best-maintained attractions in Thailand. One of the most popular attractions close to Bangkok, you will feel like a king as you wander through the vast complex. While in Ayutthaya, take in the Historical Park. The Siamese moved their capital to Ayutthaya around 1350 AD and created a royal palace and many impressive monasteries and Wats in the area. In the mid 1800's the Burmese sacked it and the city was abandoned. Now a UNESCO protected World Heritage Site, you can explore the historic temples scattered around the encircling river. If you prefer, head to the Damnoen Saduak Floating Market and see Thais going about their everyday life in a truly unique setting. Stay in downtown Bangkok to visit sites such as the Khao San Road, Chatuchak Market and reclining Buddha at Wat Pho. Transportation is via the Bangkok skytrain, or by taxi where needed. If you want to venture further afield, you will be taken by comfortable minivan and have the services of a professional driver.     We spent two consecutive days with our guide, Elena. In the first day she organized a taxi for the whole day and took us first to a train market and then to the Ampawa Floating market (Sat and Sun only) about 1h drive south of BKK. The Ampawa market in the evening is a very pleasant and busy place, with shops, restaurants, boats and vendors catering for locals and tourists. We took a 1h longtail boat tour from the market around the neighboring canals and communities. The second day Elena took us to the Chatuchak and the Flower markets with a break for a very tasty lunch in a pleasant restaurant. Both days' activities were perfectly organized and executed. We had great time with Elena, who is very knowledgeable, open and friendly, with great organizational skills. Couldn't have spent our time better than that. Highly recommended!

    We spent a wonderful, perfect day with Nancy of Get your Guide. We chose to take a private day tour of our choosing--- Nancy planned the day perfectly, and took us for an incredible Longboat tour which was the highlight of our Bangkok visit. We toured the houses on stilts, and bought bread from monks to feed the fish. Then we visited Chatuchak Market, which is the largest market in the world and was such an incredible experience!
