This is a most if you are in Barcelona. The site is spectacular the view is amazing. We had an afternoon visit so we had the chance to have the monastery for ourselves. We saw the Black Madonna without any line and a beautiful experience of hearing the monks sing. Our guide Alex was absolutely fantastic, vey knowledgeable and answered all our questions. Alex made our afternoon a total delight. Highly recommended....

Marcel was our high-energy guide for this tour. At times it was a little hard to hear him in the van (FYI it's about a 50 minute drive each way which is included in your booking time), but that's ok, we were soaking up the scenery as it was our first time outside the city of Barcelona. Once we arrived at Montserrat, he gave us a tour and explained several of the myths/stories/history of it all. I wish we had more time to visit the museum, ride the funicular, or maybe hike over to the cave, but in the half-day option, it feels a little rushed even just trying to listen to the childrens choir after the tour. If you can, do the full day so you can take in more of this beautiful site.

The afternoon trip is the way to go. You won't see the boy's choir perform, but you also won't have to deal with huge crowds. We went on a Tuesday afternoon, and we were the only people in line to see the Black Madonna. Our tour guide Marcel was great! Very nice and very informative.
