  • From Bilbao: Basque Country Tour

    1. From Bilbao: Basque Country Tour

Follow the river road of Bilbao towards the coast and admire the old industrial areas that once powered Bilbao. You will visit the Transporter Bridge of Bizkaia, the oldest bridge of this type in the world, still active and considered a beloved icon by locals. Afterwards, you will see the neighborhood of Neguri and its old mansions owned by rich industrial managers before you head towards the interior of the province. Admire the traditional local houses and farm house structures, and discover the imposing old Castle of Butron. Arrive at the coastal village of Bakio, a popular summer holiday destination among Basque natives, before you follow the beautiful and wild coastal road, eventually arriving at your second stop, San Juan de Gaztelugatxe. This place is said to be one of the most beautiful locations along the Basque coastline. It is a huge rock on the top the old hermitage of San J...

This was a great tour because the destinations were remarkable and the tour guide provided so much additional insights/depth. I was disappointed that we could not walk along the stairs at Gaztelugatxe - it would have been good if the description of the tour (upon booking it) made that more clear and identified an option where that aspect was incorporated in the tour.

    3. San Sebastian: Hidden Parks and Palaces Walkabout

Your tour will begin in the neighborhood of Egia, a recent corner of San Sebastian. From there you will head up to Cristina Enea, a hidden gem just 15 minutes of the town center. Walking along this park you will discover a palace that holds a love story, as well as numerous peacocks which live freely inside the city. You'll then cross the river and head up to the main residential neighborhood of Donostia, Amara. There you'll go through the main aspects of the day-to-day life of the locals and the modern Basque society. It is an incredibly complex territory, but is so enchanting that you may just risk wanting to stay and live there like guide does. After walking around Amara, you’ll head up to Aiete Park, which is one of the biggest parks in town yet one of the most unknown. Fantastic morning around Bilbao. It is worth it and you are left wanting more. Thanks to the explanations and anecdotes of our guide (Estephan), I learned many things that I did not know.

Angel is a great guide, his explanations are excellent and the visit to the geopark together with the views that there are are one of the things you must do in San Sebastián

We went for a weekend and the tour allowed us to see things that otherwise would have been very difficult without a vehicle, highly recommended

Nice trip. The guide Estevan explains everything you should know.
