Our most recommended things to do in Battambang

  • Battambang Private Full-Day Tour from Siem Reap

    1. Battambang Private Full-Day Tour from Siem Reap

Depart from your hotel early in the morning and head from Siem Reap to Battambang province. Begin your day with a sightseeing tour around the city of Battambang along the Steung Sangké river. Pass Battambang's gorgeous French colonial buildings on the way to Odam Bang village. From there, take a bamboo train through the region's rice paddies. This province is known as the country's “rice barn”, as it is the leading rice-producing province in Cambodia. After enjoying a picnic lunch, head to the pretty village of Wat Kor and the hilltop temples of Phnom Sampeau and Phnom Banan. The area's limestone hills are dissected by a number of caves, and some still contain unexpected reminders of Cambodia's horrific Khmer Rouge regime. Travel back along the Steung Sangké river and discover the region's tropical fruit orchards and vegetables planted along the fertile riverbanks of Steung Sangké riv...

Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable and open about the history of the sites we visited, which included the killing caves, temples and a great local restaurant for lunch

  • Phnom Penh to/from Battambang: 3-Day Sleeper Cruise

    2. Phnom Penh to/from Battambang: 3-Day Sleeper Cruise

Day 1: Board a traditional wooden boat called the Sat Toung in Phnom Penh and check into your cabin. The boat only holds 4 cabins and 8 passengers maximum, for a more intimate cruise experience. Set off on an unforgettable 3-day adventure down the Tonle Sap River. First, pass through the ancient and charming city of Udong which was once the capital of Cambodia. At night, drop the anchor at a small arm of the river in front of a typical farm on the banks of the river. Day 2: Venture up the river again for another 2.5 hours until you pass the city of Kampong Chhnang. Stop in front of a school in the village of Damnak Reach and make a short visit there. After walking in the village, return to the boat to enjoy lunch served on board. Then, set sail to navigate another of the countless arms of the river, at the foot of a very green hill. Anchor for the night...

phenomenally fabulous and Sambath + driver are THE best

This is what I posted on Trip Advisor: Sambath is most probably the best ambassador one could dream of to discover the beauty, history and friendliness of Cambodia, Buddhism and the Khmer people. This was our first full day in Siem Reap and before doing the Angkor tours we opted to visit the province of Battambang. The best choice ever: fabulous landscapes, incredibly interesting people (we met the owner of a VERY old house built under the French colonial rule... what a delight... a traditional family heirloom). And of course the temples with the unruly macaques and the chanting monks, and last but not least, the bamboo train. A magical day with Sam and the best driver with nerves of steel. What a way to kick off our 25th wedding anniversary. Thumps up from every hand on the multi-armed god! Thank you Sam for a Cambodian delight.

The full day trip offers full value for money. As a solo traveler it was safe and convenient to let me transport to the locations and benefit from an English speaking and knowledgeable guide. The day includes everything from the Killing Field location at the Temple to the fun experience with the Bamboo Train. Highly recommend!

Excellent tour with top notch guide

We spent a marvellous day with Sam our guide. He was extremely knowledgeable and could answer any question we threw art him. His English is excellent and very easy to understand which is not always the case in Cambodia.
