Travel the Grand Cru wine route of the Burgundy wine lands on a half-day tour from Dijon, and visit the wine capital on a stroll around the historic city of Beaune. You will be in the hands of an expert sommelier, wine collector or producer, traveling along scenic roads that take you past vineyards and rural villages. Discover the vineyards of famous Grand Cru appellations, such as the Romanée Conti, Clos de Vougeot, Chambertin, and Montrachet, passing abbeys, castles, and Roman churches along the way. Stop to taste a selection of Côte de Beaune and Côte de Nuits wines. Lovely, knowledgeable guide but if you’re expecting a wine tasting tour like Aus or US then this is not for you. 40 mins spent tasting some nice and mainly red wine wines followed by a drive to Beaune through the vineyards. You will learn about the classification system but you wont visit producers or see a winery up close. Beaune is beautiful but an hour is not enough to give it justice - go see it separately.
You’ll be picked up at 9:30 AM at the Beaune tourist office and travel in an air conditioned minivan (maximum of 8 passengers) on this full-day wine tour. The tour begins with a winery visit in Beaune, where you’ll find a wide range of different wines, including several Premiers crus and Grand crus. You'll be introduced to different appellations such as Saint-Aubin, Meursault Premier Cru Les Charmes and Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru. After the winery visit you'll have free time for lunch and for a visit to the 15th-century Hospices de Beaune (admission to be paid on site). After lunch, you'll head out along the scenic Route des Grands Crus and stop at the famous Romanée-Conti, which produces the most expensive wine in the world. You'll also have guided tours at Clos Vougeot and in Côte de Nuits. Founded in 1098 by monks, the vineyard of Clos de Vougeot covers 50 hectares. The castle ho...
We were picked up at 9:30 as scheduled in front of the tourist office. It happened that nobody else other than my wife and I had booked this tour. Ava, our tour guide was excellent. She has tons of wine knowledge and did not hesitate sharing that with us. We visited a couple of wine makers and walked the famous vineyards. She suggested a lunch place that was very good for the hour we were not together in the center of Beaune. I bought some wine to be shipped - although I have not heard from the shipping company that was supposed to contact me yet! The most important factor is wine selection in Burgundy is “the map”! Have the map of vineyards handy when selecting your Pino. Unlike Napa that is equipped with irrigation system Burgundy relies exclusively on natural climate conditions. Check your years yo make sure too much rain did not make it a bad year!
This tour takes you on a discovery of Burgundy, where you can visit the important landmarks and sample the local wine. Visit the Hospices de Beaune, a former charitable almshouse founded in 1443 by Nicolas Rolin, the chancellor of Burgundy, as a hospital for the poor. Explore the original hospital building, the Hôtel-Dieu, one of the finest examples of 15th-century French architecture, now a museum. Enjoy an informative and relaxing wine tasting experience at the Château Pommard vineyard with the English-speaking sommelier guides. During lunch, take the chance to explore the delicious specialty of Burgundy; snails, beef cooked in wine, eggs meurette and much more.
