Berlin: Kreuzberg evening tour – Criminal and cuddly

8. Berlin: Kreuzberg evening tour – Criminal and cuddly

Begin at the Kotti, which is a central place in Kreuzberg. In a short introduction, your guide will give you an overview of Kreuzberg’s history, life, and culture.  Kreuzberg was founded as a typical working-class neighborhood in the middle of the 19th century. People lived in huge building complexes, some in the fifth or sixth backyard. Discover these places at Oranienstraße and try to imagine life back in the days when it was almost impossible to breathe fresh air and when many people could not rent a whole flat or a room but instead slept on just a mattress. Most people in the working class had a radical left-wing view. So Kreuzberg turned into a critical neighborhood with constant demonstrations. Your guide will tell you about The Mother of all Street Fights. Visit SO36, a legendary music club, where anarchistic punk and new wave bands entertained audiences in the 1970’s and 1980’s and provoked the government and police. Discover Görli Park, the Central Park of Kreuzberg. Get to know Berlin’s Jack the Ripper. After two hours, see Kreuzberg from a different point of view. Say your goodbyes, then start your next adventure in Kreuzberg's famous nightlife, or if you prefer, to relax after this exploratory city tour.

Berlin: Graffiti Workshop at the Berlin Wall

9. Berlin: Graffiti Workshop at the Berlin Wall

Join a graffiti workshop to understand graffiti culture and learn how to create graffiti art with spray paints. Your instructor will provide interesting insight and helpful guidance as you leave your mark on the Berlin Wall. Meet at Mauerpark, where a part of the original Berlin Wall is located, and join your instructor and other participants. Your workshop begins with a fascinating discussion about graffiti culture. Ask your instructor questions and get answers you wouldn't find elsewhere. Afterward, decide with the instructor what you'll paint on the wall. Whether it's a sentence, expression, or slogan, your instructor will trace your choice and then explain how to use spray paints, step by step, to create your graffiti. The entire group will paint together. While you paint, a professional photographer will also take pictures of you during the activity and send you a selection of edited pictures. Once the painting is finished, pose for a group picture in front of your graffiti on the original Berlin Wall.

Berlin: East Side Gallery and Cold War Segway Tour

10. Berlin: East Side Gallery and Cold War Segway Tour

Learn about Berlin's history on a Segway tour that visits the longest surviving section of the Berlin Wall. Hear about the tumultuous history of Germany's capital and visit Alexanderplatz, Hackescher Markt, Nikolaiviertel, and more. Meet your guide in the center of Berlin and set out to explore this vibrant city on the back of a Segway. Cruise through important neighborhoods and past iconic sites as you make your way to the highlight of this tour, the East Side Gallery. Once part of the Berlin Wall, the East Side Gallery is now the longest open-air gallery in the world. This intact piece of the wall that divided Germany in the past is 1.3 kilometers long and sits along the banks of the Spree River. In 1990, when the wall finally came down, more than 100 artists from over 20 countries decorated this stretch of wall with their art, a lot of which acted as a commentary on the political upheaval between 1989 and 1990. Be sure to bring your camera along to capture this striking piece of history. Popular paintings include Dmitri Vrubel’s Fraternal Kiss and Birgit Kinders' Trabant breaking through the wall.

What an excellent experience. I went with my 13 year old son and the whole thing went very smooth, Sylvain communicated and organised it perfectly, and even though the weather was freezing, we both had a great time. Sylvain guided us to create a piece of graffiti that we were delighted with, he explained the process, gave us advice and we both felt we learned a great deal. The location was great, it did not feel fake or setup - we were literally making graffiti properly with someone who clearly has lots of experience. I could not recommend this more for anyone interested in graffiti, or just wanting an authentic experience that is different to the normal boring tourist stuff. Thanks so much!!!

Very friendly staff. Explained everything before entering. Cool stuff inside. Doesn't need 1.5 hours. we were in and out within 45 minutes.

Everything booked was excellent!! Small group walking tour highly recommended

It was great fun learning how to tag & experiencing first hand how to paint.

It was most enjoyable tour. I saw so many new parts of Berlin.
