Full description

Meet at Kotti, right in the center of vibrant Kreuzberg. After a short introduction, get a broad overview of the history and lifestyle of the special place in Berlin. Learn how Kreuzberg was founded as a typical working-class neighborhood in the middle of the 19th century.

Discover Oranienstraße and try to imagine life in the past, when many people didn’t rent a whole flat or a room, but an 8 hours-stay on a mattress. Uncover the area's working class and left-wing heritage, and learn about its demonstrations.

Explore the most important historic places and will forge a bridge to today’s everyday life and style in modern Kreuzberg. This place is a melting pot for people of all provenances, opinions, lifestyles, sexualities, and incomes.

On your way through the streets and history of the quarter, meet the former GDR traffic-light men, visit SO36, the place of May Day March demonstrations, listen to dramatic reports of attempts to escape GDR, remember Martin Luther King’s visit in 1964 – and get to know Berlin’s Jack the Ripper. Enjoy exquisite snacks in selected restaurants in the neighborhood as you go. This trip is in German only but I was very lucky that someone was able to help me understand. The ad can show up in English which is a bit confusing but be warned! I had a great time in the end but it is really required to speak German.

Well guided tour of the intersection with 5 stops where snacks are served. Our guide showed us places off the main running routes and was able to provide a lot of background information. Our questions were also adequately answered. The time passed very quickly. A good mix of running, standing for explanations and sitting for the tasting. Thanks again to our guide.

Our guide Nico had a good story about everything and told nice anecdotes, both historically and culturally. He had a good click with the group. We were in Berlin for the second time, but he added a lot to the Kreutzberg experience. Culinary can be revived more refreshing and modern. Kenab sandwich and pizza everyone knows. More tapas and vegan oriented would be more in line with this time. Meeting point from the other side of the U-bahn should be indicated better. We had to get sick for 15 minutes between drunks. Fortunately Nicolas called us. Also kudos to Nicholas! Arnoud and Mirjam from the Netherlands
