Travel on the classic Bernina Red Train, the red fairy-tale on rails, and experience the magical countryside of the Swiss Alps. Depart from Tirano at a time of your choosing, the trains leave the station at quasi-hourly intervals, and admire spectacular scenery as you cross the Alps from the Valtellina vineyards to the glaciers of the Bernina Pass. Enjoy panoramic views from the train's windows, which have been gazed out of for over 100 years. Sit back and relax during this fairy-tale journey as the beautiful alpine landscape flows by before your eyes. Feel free to leave the train at any station and hop on the next train when you want to continue your journey. Ride all the way from Tirano to St. Moritz and back again. You can choose an optional cablecar ride to the Diavolezza Refuge to admire the mountain scenery.

Great day out and certainly the standard Bernina red train is much better than the ‘overpriced tourist version with larger windows’ The main reason is that if you want to take photos you can open the windows on the standard Bernina Red train which means you get fantastic pictures of the views. The Bernina Express is a nice ride but terrible for taking photos as you get ‘reflections off the windows’ which ruins it. This is a great choice which even allows you to get off at stops and get on whenever you want. Definately worth it !!

Our family LOVED everything! The scenic ride was absolutely beautiful! The flexibility to get off and explore other towns was a bonus. We drove from Lake Garda so we had a bit of a late start, therefore we had to take the bus back from Poschiavo. Tickets include local transit on buses and trains. Highly recommend, we’ll be booking again next time we’re in Italy.
