9. Bilbao: Guided Group Tour with Tapas and Drinks Included

The gastronomy in the Basque Country is known for its quality all over the world, although we know that nowadays internet overwhelms us with information, and get to the appropriate place to taste the best recipes and products can be a matter of luck. That’s why we designed a tasting menu of “pintxos” and pairing with local wines, to guarantee that you enjoy of the best quality. Our local guides will take you into a culinary trip by the gastronomical traditions that make us stand out, a cuisine focused on the quality products and the know-how that gave the success to the Basque chefs, from the bars to the Michelin-starred restaurants. In Bilbao stands out the cuisine rooted to tradition and in San Sebastián a more creative cuisine, both of them a delight for the five senses. Besides tasting with us the best gastronomy and giving you personalized suggestions following your preferences, we have some surprises for you… Come with us and discover them! What are the “pintxos”? They are the most popular miniature cuisine in the Basque Country. This name comes from the verb “pinchar” (prick) in Spanish, but in the Basque Language we write it with “tx” instead of “ch”. That’s because originally we pricked with a toothpick the product or tiny dish upon a basis of bread. But nowadays the cuisine evolved and there are just some pintxos that looks this way. Nowadays we find a world of flavours in small size… from a simple quality product to a complex cooking. When we eat pintxos we take one or two of them and we do bar hopping to taste the best pintxos in every bar. That’s how we will do it in the tour!

1.) The Tourguide Javier was great, very helpful and very nice. 2.) The Meetingpoint was a 50/50 chance to find. I would recommend only to use informations per WhatsApp/phone. We got both emails and WhatsApp’s and since we didn’t notice that they did mention two different meeting points we (family of Four, 10 and 12 year old kids) went to the wrong one and missed the boat. Luckily our tourguide met with us nevertheless and made it possible to reschedule for the next day. 3.) We booked the tour in German as we didn’t want to translate to our kids simultaneously but we got last minute notice that the tours are not available in German during October/November anymore. So I would probably write that on the Homepage as well to avoid disappointment. Our Tourguide Javier included the kids nevertheless and tried in simple English so they wouldn’t feel left out - great job on his side! 5 stars for the Tourguide, 4 stars for the Organisation as it had minor flaws ;-)

The tour was great our guide Javi was very sweet and super personable. He even loaned me some cash because I didn’t have enough for the wine that I purchased The txacoli winemakers were a very nice married couple, we felt like family by the end of the tour. The only thing that could’ve been better was the “ lunch” we were expecting a full lunch but just had a anchovy tapa. For the price of the tour I was expecting more food. But overall I enjoyed the tour I would just recommend bringing cash and eating before you come. Thanks again Javi he is the best!

A fantastic evening, turning an "unknown" in 3 hours into a friend!

The evening started at the right time and after 10 minutes the first Jamon Iberico was being consumed, waht a great way to start. our host Irene was knowledgeable, vibrant and enthusiastic. We ate pinxtos at various places in old and new Bilbao and even our nxt day's dinner as arranged at one of the addresses that we visited. Irene is working hard to open up a small place for guests to stay in the country side and take them in the lovely area in and around Bilbao : well, it is certainly worth coming back for !

Worth to visit. A hostess who cooks well and gets the best out of the tour. Beautiful views and of course delicious wines tasted. The guide (Experia Norte) knew everything about the city. We got a lot of history.

The truth is that it has been an unforgettable experience, the fantastic boat ride very well explained by our guide Javier,
