This was a long full day tour but if you are short for time in Bogota, this is a good option to see some important highlights. The area of El Dorado lake is beautiful. The hike however does require some athletic prowess. The guide was excellent and her history telling was very informative and interesting but please not that the guides at the park are Spanish only. The lunch we had was a nice local option and well priced. The Salt Cathedral is certainly and must see. The tour is self guided with an audioguide (and frankly was a bit long). The Salt Cathedral is underground and a bit tough if you are suffering from altitude sickness. It is cool but I would have been happy with 30 minutes there, not 2 hours. That being said, the majority of people on my tour really enjoyed it. It is not so much a tour as it is a driver who picks you up and takes you to these places. Our driver, Carlos, was indeed very professional and nice. It was a lot of time in traffic but that's Bogota for you!

We loved the tour! Alex is a very friendly guide! We got to know the town of Nuevo Guatavita and its history. The Laguna del Cacique de Guatavita, its vegetation, history and the legend of the dorado with an incredible local guide. Then we went to Zipaquirá to eat and to the salt cathedral, very impressive! We finished the tour with very beautiful views of Bogotá at night.
