1. La Paz: Tiwanaku Archeological Site Full-Day Tour
After pickup from your hotel in central La Paz at around 7:30 AM, you'll head to Tiwanaku to explore the most important archaeological site in Bolivia. Located near the southern shore of Lake Titicaca in Bolivia, the city of Tiwanaku, also spelled Tiahuanaco, was the capital of a powerful pre-Incan civilization that dominated the Andean region between 500 AD and 900 AD. Arriving later, the Incas regarded Tiwanaku as the site where their god Viracocha rose from the depths of Lake Titicaca. Visit the waterholes and observe the extraction of the salt. View the Playa Blanca Hotel, one of the first hotels in the salar. Take a break and enjoy lunch in the middle of Salar de Uyuni, the worlds largest salt flat. Arrive at the foot of the dormant Tunupa volcano and use this opportunity to take photos. Observe the wildlife that surrounds the area, including flamingos. Watch the sunset at the Salar de Uyuni, with a glass of wine in your hand.
