Boulder City-Hoover Dam Museum

Start with a pickup from your hotel on the Las Vegas strip or downtown Las Vegas on board a comfortable coach. Take a scenic drive through the Mojave Desert over to Boulder City, NV. Visit the historic downtown area where the workers were housed and project leaders carried out the building of one of the largest and important public works projects in United States history. Peruse the museum, see the local shops, get coffee, doughnuts, and other assorted food and drink as well as local souvenirs. Drive through the beautiful homes of modern times and construction on your way to the Dam site. See the Arizona side of the Dam before going back to Nevada for a guided walking tour of the top of the Dam. Climb 69 steps to reach the top of the Mike O'Callaghan-Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge and enjoy stunning views of the Hoover Dam, Lake Mead, Colorado River, and nearby extinct volcano. Lastly, make a stop to see Lake Mead from afar at Hemenway Park. Be lucky to spot wild, native Desert Big Horn Sheep that often feed on the grass or rest in the shade of the well cared for lawn. After approximately 5 hours of touring, return to your pickup location.

Learn how the dam was built and engineered from your local guide as you take photos from several vantage points, including panoramic views of Lake Mead, the largest reservoir in the U.S. Sit down to refuel at Bighorn Café inside the Hoover Dam Lodge before continuing the tour. Later, journey to the Valley of Fire State Park and travel back in time to prehistoric days while visiting Elephant Rock. Explore exhibits about the history, geology, and ecology at the visitor center. Marvel at 4,000-year-old petroglyphs (rock carvings) made by the ancient tribes at Atlatl Rock and learn how years of sediment deposits created sandstone formations at the Beehives. At the end of the tour, get taken back to your hotel for drop-off.
