Full description
In a healthful balance between Port tradition and new technologies, you will discover Douro region and Port wine – from “terroir” to the wine grapes, from the categories up to the aromas, trough our recently interactive museum, with personalized and intuitive access. In the guided visits to Cálem caves you will learn about the Douro Demarcated Region, know how the Port is produced and stay abreast of all the details of the history of this House. The cellars themselves remain active and visitable. It is there that you will learn more about the unique characteristics of each type of Port, even next to the barrels where they grow old, protected from light and heat. Then, you will be invited to a Cálem wine tasting: a white Port and a Tawny Port. With one of your guides, you will have the possibility to learn some more Port secrets and taste our wines.

Nice, entertaining introduction to the production and special features of port wine from the Douro region of Portugal. The subsequent tasting was also very good, but little was said about the port wine itself. Advantage: Port wines from the adjoining shop can also be sent home and do not have to be transported home in a suitcase.

Fantastic! I've been on several wine tours, but I've never had as much fun and high spirits as this one! The companion was super funny, but still very professional! I was excited! We experienced a tour in English. The lady spoke slowly and clearly so that everything was understood. It looked like there were no Portuguese tours offered, which I found a shame because I would have been even happier about it. If there is, then I take that comment back! I thoroughly enjoyed this hour! Thank you for this experience!!

You learned a lot about the history and production as well as the different types of port wine. Unfortunately, you don't really have time to look at the interactive museum during the almost 1 hour tour. Unfortunately, there is not enough time for the interactive part in particular. Which is a real shame as the museum looks really good. However, it is still a good tour and definitely worth the money.
