Amalfi Coast: Boat and Snorkeling Tour in Small Group

4. Amalfi Coast: Boat and Snorkeling Tour in Small Group

Board an Amalfitan Gozzo boat for a scenic ride along the Amalfi coast. Admire natural wonders, including the Natural Arch and Faraglioni Rocks. Swim and snorkel or relax on the shores of secluded beaches. Once everybody has jumped on board and had a little briefing about how you're going to spend the day, you will be ready to set off to the west towards Positano. The route will take you along Amalfi Coast’s finest beaches as well as close to natural rock arches and into sea caves, giving you the opportunity to admire the old watchtowers that dot the entire length of this coast. You will pause at beaches reachable only by sea and have time to go snorkeling or swimming in crystal-clear waters and into grottoes. Not too far from the starting point, right after leaving the center of Amalfi, you will get close to Saint Andrew's Grotto, a huge natural sea cave full of stalactites named after the patron saint of Amalfi (Andrea). Then, once passed Duoglio and Santa Croce beaches, you will stop by the "Arc of Lovers", a natural rock arch created millions of years ago by the erosion of the sea whose shape recalls two elephants in the act of kissing. Up to not too long ago young couples used to get married on the top of it. A little later you will cruise in front of the ancient fishing village of Conca dei Marini, passing near the villa of Sophia Loren and seeing the historic hotel “Il Saraceno” located on La Vite Beach. From here you will also have a stunning view of the Santa Rosa Monastery, a former convent now converted into a luxury hotel, once home of the Dominican nuns. It's right in the kitchens of this monastery that the delicious "Sfogliatella Santa Rosa" was born, a shell-shaped pastry filled with ricotta cheese-based cream and little dried fruit pieces, typical of the local culinary tradition (don't forget to taste it before leaving!). Once past the seaside of Conca dei Marini you will enter its western basin, where you will have a beautiful view of Furore and Praiano villages and the islands of Li Galli and Capri, together with the well-known Faraglioni Rocks. Further inside this basin we will find the little Runghetiello Grotto and its tiny beach, where you will anchor for a break to go swimming or snorkeling. You will reach then the famous Furore Fjord, the only natural fjord in Italy and location of the international diving competition "MarMeeting": every year in July, professional divers from around the world compete by jumping from the top of the bridge which is 28 meters high. Navigating a little farther onward to the village of Praiano you will be able to have a close look at a bigger sea cave, the Africana Grotto, where the water has a distinctive blue color thanks to the unique refraction of light. Finally you will go round Capo Sottile and continue cruising to Positano, where you will have another break for snorkeling at a beach reachable only by the sea and so not crowded at all: La Porta. The return trip to Amalfi will give you a different but equally remarkable view of both sea and land.

What people are saying about Campania

Great day out. Well organised and the guide was very helpful. For those planning to go to Capri be aware that a lot of tourists visit the island each day and this puts a great strain on the island's bus service. In the morning we had 4 hours of free time to explore the island before our afternoon boat trip around the island. We took the bus to the chairlift with no problems but trying to get back we found that organised tour guides were skipping the queues and filling up the buses with their groups, making it very difficult for us to get back. The manager at the bus station was very helpful and he was able to put us on a minibus but we only just made our afternoon boat trip, so just be aware that getting around the island can be an issue and take a lot longer than you expect.

Worth the money. Everything worked well. The guide + infos were just what we were looking for. First we were picked up by a big car. We were brought to a marina where the biat took us to capri marina. From there we got all the infos and could buy tickets for the tourist bus that brings you to different stations just like a hop on hop off bus. We went to the top of capri with a chairlift. This was the best part of the whole trip. Afterwards we checked out annacapri and capri. Annacapri was a nice quiet idyllic little place. Capri was beautiful but very crowded. Good for luxury shopping and the insta pics for those who need it. Afterwards we had a trip around the island with the blat before heading back home.

In our short getaway to Italy we took this trip to Capri and we were very pleased with it. Capri is an amazing island and a total must see. We booked two other day trips (not with HP travels) to the Amalfi coast and Pompeii/Mt. Vesuvius. The day trip to Capri was far better than the other day trips we took. One of the main difference in our experience was the guide. Marlene was our guide for the Capri trip, she was exceptional. She was really nice and very professional. She was always polite and really enthusiastic about helping us getting the most out of this experience.

Highly recommend this boat trip. We were picked up near our hotel and taken to the dock for the boat. Very well organised. The boat was very comfortable and great drinks and snacks offered including rolls, cake and limoncello. Our captain, Federico was amazing. Very informative, very friendly and had great stories to tell. 4 hours of pure fun!!

The entire experience was amazing! Our guide, Dario, was wonderful - helpful, informative, and friendly.
