Ascend the mountain via Platteklip Gorge, via a scenic and well-maintained path that is perfect for beginners. Know before you go

  • All hikers under the age of 18 must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians
  • You must have a reasonable physical strength to participate, as even the moderate or difficult routes include moving on ladders, along chains fixed to the rock, and sometimes up the very steep or vertical rock using ladders, chains, and steel steps fixed to the rock
  • Please bear in mind that inability to reach the summit due to fitness issues will not entitle customers to any refunds
  • Please bring a South African identity document or passport, a daypack, a light windproof jacket, 2 litres of water (no glass containers), snacks, cell phone, camera, sunscreen, and lip balm
  • Suitable clothing to wear would be loose-fitting trousers, (preferably no jeans, skirts or dresses), a hat or a cap, hiking boots or running shoes (no flip-flops, Crocs, sandals, or high-heels), sunglasses, and a long-sleeved shirt for sun protection
