Learn about the fortifications built by the Romans. Cross the main street, Rue Cross Mayrevieille to the castle. Discover the museum inside the castle and develop a better understanding of the Trencavel family that defended the Cathars during the Albigensian Crusade.  Walk along the top of the wall, crossing both medieval and Roman towers as you head towards the church. Hear an explanation about the architecture of the gothic church and see the beautiful stained glass windows, built between the 13th to 16th centuries. Walkthrough the streets of the ancient religious quarter and learn about the inquisition in Carcassonne and Toulouse. This was a really nice tour that fit well into our day visit to Carcassonne. We learned lots about the history of the cité (crusades, inquisition, architecture, secret treasure, etc.) before exploring on our own. The guide was great and had a good level of English. She also recommended nice lunch and coffee spots for us to visit in the cité after the tour. Merci beaucoup et à bientôt!

My wife and I were very fortunate to have our guide, Natalie, to ourselves for the walking tour of Carcassonne. We learned so much more from her (about the history of The City, its peoples, and the surrounding area from pre Roman times to the present day) than we could ever have done without her extensive knowledge. Well recommended.

Our guide was excellent. Friendly, enthusiastic and knowledgable. We had a lovely little group just out of season, so had lots of time and space to take in the beautiful city of Carcassonne. Natalie was happy to answer all our questions and we all learnt a lot. Would highly recommend this fascinating experience.
