You will have 1.5 - 2 hours to spend at the palace before you head to Taman Sari Water Castle. Continue on foot to the neighboring Water Castle and its gardens which was built in the mid-18th century as a resting, workshop, and meditation area for the royal family. Borobudur Sunrise on Setumbu Hill and Dieng Plateau

5. Borobudur Sunrise on Setumbu Hill and Dieng Plateau

Get picked up from your hotel in the early morning and head to Setumbu Hill to witness breathtaking sunrise views. When the air is fresh and as the mist begins to lift the sun will surround the volcanoes and terraced fields. Choose the additional option to explore the UNESCO listed Borobudur Temple, just 4 kilometers from Setumbu Hill. Be the first of the day to enter the gates as they open. After the sunrise at Setumbu Hill or Borobudur Temple, then travel to Dieng Plateau. Enjoy views along the way of rows of rice fields and picture-perfect villages clinging to terraced hillsides. Head to Telaga Warna Lake via Batu Pandang Hill. Telaga Warna Lake, or "Colorful Lake", contains water that changes color. At times it can be green, purple, yellow, or even all the colors of the rainbow. This phenomenon occurs when the sun hits the water due to its high sulfuric content. From Telaga Warna Lake, visit Sikidang Crater, an open sulfur crater with angry bubbling mud and bellowing steam. It’s set among a bumpy and dusty landscape that will make you feel as if you've arrived on another planet. Not far from the crater, you can also visit the Arjuna Temple Complex which houses 8 small Hindu temples that date back to the 7th century. What people are saying about Central Java

This activity was excellent!! Ivan was my driver, and he is such a nice person who was very knowledgeable about the region and was just great to talk with. He was able to help set me up with tour guides at Borobudur and Prambanan as well as a driver who spoke English for the Jeep excursion. After we finished at Prambanan, he offered to take me to Kota Gede, the area where silver is made, since it was on the way back to my hotel. He was very accommodating and I would highly recommend anyone request him if you are doing this activity. The only issue I had was that although I was told I would receive an email or call the day before the activity, I received neither. Thankfully Ivan was there on time, but I would have appreciated receiving some type of confirmation from the company as had been stated on the initial booking email I received.

The guide and driver were very flexible and accommodating. The driver often stopped en route for me to take photos of the surroundings. They both explained quite a bit about local customs and lore en route. The guide was very knowledgeable about the places we visited (Keraton, Taman Siri, Prambanan and Ratu Boko) and adapted to my pace, and also found a restaurant near Prambanan (Kali Opak) with good food. It was the guide who suggested waiting for the sunset at Ratu Boko when we were finished at Ratu Boko almost an hour early, even though it was still a long drive back as my hotel was close to Borobudur.

It was a great adventure!!! What we saw was amazing, but even more impressive was the logistics behind our travel. Our trip was flawless. Our local guide, Widi, was on time and extremely friendly. He was wonderfully knowledgeable, and he made our trip special. We highly recommend this tour to everyone!!!

was amazing private tour, ivan was speak excellent english, he told us so many interesting stories and took absolute great care, we felt truly blessed!

Wonderful experience. Felt like back to the era. A huge volcano can be seen from the temple site too.
