Full description
Mount Athos, commonly known as the Holy Mountain, is the spiritual capital of the Orthodox Christian world. It consists of 20 monasteries, about 700 houses, and approximately 2,000 monks. The area's ”Garden of Virgin Mary” is also considered the paradise of the eastern peninsula of Halkidiki. The Monastic State of the Holy Mountain is known to be the main carrier of Orthodox Christianity, holding spiritual glory and great history. Mount Athos is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and even though women are not allowed inside its monasteries, all visitors can admire the magnificent scenery by cruising along the west coast of the Athos Peninsula. A cruise around the monasteries provides visitors with the unique opportunity to admire the view of the holy monasteries whilst learning everything about their history. By sailing on an Albatros with your friends, you can sail in privacy and safety along the peninsula. Cruising back to Ouranoupolis, stop for a quick swim in the crystal clear waters of Drenia island - known as the "Caribbean of Halkidiki".
