Paris: Château de Vincennes Entry Ticket

2. Paris: Château de Vincennes Entry Ticket

Take the short journey to the suburbs of eastern Paris and arrive at the impressive Château de Vincennes, a true symbol of the modern French state. Discover how this historic Château was built in the 14th-century to affirm the power of the monarchy, guarding the capital and protecting the kings against uprisings. The Château was at the heart of the French monarchy until 1682, when Louis XIV chose to settle in Versailles.  Climb the stairs into the keep, a 52-meter fortified tower which is the tallest of its kind in Europe. The keep was used as a prison from the 16th up to the 19th-century. See the rooms where Fouquet, the Marquis de Sade, and Mirabeau were held and where King Henry V died. Find out how, under Napoleon I, the building was transformed into a barracks and arsenal, and the fortress protected Paris during invasions in the 19th-century. Now, the building is considered to be a place of national remembrance, that was restored after suffering extensive damage during the Second World War. The Château de Vincennes now houses the historical services of the 3 French armed forces.

The guide includes almost everything you’d want to see. This is my 6th time in Paris, and spent an entire week taking in some of the usual favorites, Louvre, D’Orsay and visited many smaller venues, most of which we’d never seen before. The museum pass is almost always the best way to see more during your time because you skip some extremely long lines! Highly recommend.

This is one of the coolest things to see in Paris. Plus, not a huge crowd like most other spots. You will walk where royalty once roamed. See a church that took nearly 200 years to build. Walk up one of the tallest castle towers in Europe and think to yourself, wow, these kings and queens must have had some ripped calves. Good times!

It's a little tricky to find the office to pick up your pass, but they work like a charm. You still need to get a timed ticket for the Louvre and Versailles, but you just walk into other places.

So easy to use& highly recommend! Only way to see the various sites.

Worth the price! Walk right into museums and avoid the lines.
