Settle in behind the wheel and embark on an adventure with an audio narrator that guides you through the breath-taking scenery, telling the vibrant stories and incredible facts of this rich and historical landscape.

Starting at the Oconaluftee Visitor Center, your tour takes you the east toward the majesty of Blue Ridge Scar and Ballhoot Overlooks mountain range. Then it’s on to the Big Witch Overlook to learn the ancient art of Cherokee medicine.

From there, move on to the Big Witch Overlook to learn the ancient art of Cherokee medicine. Next, arrive at Soco Gap, the site of a major battle between the Cherokee and a rival tribe. Then hear the Cherokee story of why trees lose their leaves in the winter.

Next, learn the truth about the infamous Trail of Tears, and what it meant for the people living here. On your way to Roy Taylor Forest Overlook, listen the complete history of the parkway, from its inception and gruelling construction to the bizarre turns leading to its completion.

Check out the hiking trails for Cathedral Falls and French Broad Falls, both unmissable waterfalls. A further trail leads to the summit of Black Balsam Knob, after which there is another leading to Skinny Dip Falls, a fantastic swimming spot, followed by the Cherro Cove overlook.

The Pisgah Inn and Observation Deck offer a truly perfect view of the mountains. From there, continue on toward Asheville and learn about its history, its music, and the city’s wealthiest resident. Finally, arrive at the Blue Ridge Parkway Visitor Center, where your tour will conclude.
