From Chiang Mai: Chiang Dao Cave Trekking Full-Day Tour

1. From Chiang Mai: Chiang Dao Cave Trekking Full-Day Tour

Get picked up from your hotel in Chiang Mai city center and head off on a day trip to Chiang Dao. Begin with a visit to the Chiang Dao Cave (Wat Tham Chiang Dao), which is without a doubt one of the area's most fascinating sites. Five limestone caverns invite visitors to uncover the beautiful stalactites, stalagmites, Buddha statues, and offerings from faithful pilgrims. After paying a small entrance fee, the tour begins through a system of interconnected caverns extending over seven miles into the heart of the mountain. Expect cooler air in here, although hot days may create humid conditions at times. Some of the caves are illuminated by electric lights. Here you'll find Buddha statues, including a 13-foot reclining one. Don’t miss the row of five seated Buddhas in the first cavern, which many travelers find particularly impressive. After the cave adventure, the next stop is the Chiang Dao market to gorge on delicious local meals before heading to the Buatong Sticky Waterfall, one of the most unique waterfalls in Thailand. One impressive feature of this natural wonder is the sticky mineral deposits that allow visitors to actually climb up the waterfall without falling off, with the help of a safety rope. This is definitely a great way to cool off after a long day of your trip. Afterward, relax on a complimentary transfer back to your hotel in Chiang Mai city.

From Chiang Mai: Lamphun and Lampang Temples Tour

2. From Chiang Mai: Lamphun and Lampang Temples Tour

Begin with complimentary hotel pickup from Chiang Mai for a day spent in the less-crowded historical cities of Lamphun and Lampang. The tour's first stop is Wat Phra That Lampang Luang, said to be one of the best examples of Lanna-style architecture in the country. The temple complex houses a historical museum, massive brick gate, intricately-painted viharas, a sand-filled courtyard, bronze and copper stupas, all in a tranquil setting. Next, choose to jump on a horse cart — after all, Lampang is known throughout Thailand as "Horse Cart City." It is the only town in the country where these carriages are still found. A 15 to 30-minute tour around town will take you along the Wang River or past the city's quintessential sights. After lunch, head to Wat Prathat Hariphunchai, a fantastic 9th-century temple complex by the river. Said to be Lamphun’s largest, oldest, and most attractive temple compound, Hariphunchai Temple got its name from the Mon Kingdom city that ruled this part of northern Thailand from the 9th to 13th centuries. The final stop is Wat Chammathewi Temple, home to a stupa surrounded by arches holding 60 Buddha statues; Queen Chama Devi’s ashes are said to be found inside. The unusual square "stepped pyramid" pagoda is the oldest surviving example of its kind from the Dvaravati period, the family of which ruled much of Thailand from the 6th to 11th centuries. After the day is completed, relax on a transfer back to your hotel in Chiang Mai city.

What people are saying about Chiang Mai

This tour exceeded our expectations. the cave was siiiiick - best cave we’ve been in (as city-dwelling singaporeans haha). the sticky waterfall was one of our trip highlights - it was so much fun to play in the falls and climb up like monkeys/spiders, really brought out the inner child in us :) Sam was a wonderful guide, full of information and explanations on what we were doing. Having him around in the market was especially useful to help us better understand the Thai peoples lives through their fresh produce! He even came to meet us after the tour ended to return our portable charger! And for what we enjoyed the most. The entire waterfall experience!, the caves, shopping at the market in the morning, and of course the drive to these places - chiang mai is beautiful so this is expected of course!

A must-not-miss tour for adventurous travelers who love collecting unbelievable experiences! We visited a local market and ate fresh local food, then walked inside the incredible caves. It’s about 25 minutes of walking within the cave and they ask you to cover your legs (but have wraps available for rent if you are in shorts). We then went to the sticky waterfalls which was also incredible - needs a bit of muscle so best for travelers with a good amount of energy! We both wore water shoes which made it easier to hike up but others were barefoot. Our guide was AMAZING and answered all of our questions in wonderful English! 10/10 recommend - one of our favorite experiences of the trip!

My wife and I had such an amazing time. Our tour guide Non, was very friendly, easy to talk to, professional, and big on hand sanitizer. We learned a lot about the people, food, and history of Thailand as well as some Buddhist concepts. We always appreciating learning more about the culture and history of destinations we visit. The temple in the cave was very interesting with all the different statues in different areas of the cave. Our highlight was going down and running up the sticky waterfall. Great way to cool down during the hot day. It was so much fun.

there were only 2 of us with the guide Tony. we had a very good visit. we had time to enjoy the sticky waterfall. I recommend going to the unlit part with the local guide.

Our guide Sam was knowledgeable and his English was very good. We really enjoyed the tour and would recommend it to any other travellers.
