Mr Kam was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. On the tour was myself, my husband and a young man traveler. Nice small group meant it was easy to ask questions. The trek was not an easy trail at times. We’re used to these types of hikes in our Rocky Mountains, so this was not a problem for us but could be problematic if mobility is an issue. We stopped at the lower temple where a monk ordination was taking place. We were then driven up to the top of Doi Suthep where there was a huge complex temple and LOTS of people- praying, giving offerings- obviously a very religious place for Buddhists. Tourism in Thailand is currently low due to COVID2019 and no Chinese tourists being allowed out of China, so this was the first time we saw so many Asians in one place. Lunch padthai was okay. We stopped at a waterfall and dipped our toes in. Water level is really low due to drought conditions. We were grateful to be driven back to our hotel even tho the description said we wouldn’t be.
This tour is great for anyone wanting to experience the nature around Chiang Mai without encountering big crowds. We were only two people (+guide) and hardly saw anyone else along the way. Our guide was incredibly friendly without being overbearing or awkward. He tried to cater as much as possible to our level of experience during both the hiking and biking parts. From what I could tell, our bikes were in a good shape and all the necessary protective gear was provided. Note that the mountain biking part is quite challenging and not necessarily suited for beginners! Finally, this tour includes two local meals that tasted incredibly good. Overall, a great experience!
Great time! Mr. Kam is a great guide very funny and knowledgeable. The hike was quite easy, anyone healthy will have no problems at all even if not very athletic. But it was a nice descent from the temple through the jungle. Food was simple but very good Pad Thai and fresh fruits. The waterfall is nice to bathe in and comes at almost the end of the hike so it is refreshing. Total time was less than expected around 4 hours. It was definitely worth it for Mr. Kam's stories and his clear love for the forest.
Nicy was an excellent and knowledgeable guide. I had a great time asking all kind of question, which she answers for. The cave was beautiful and a great possibility to escape noisy Chiang Mai.
This is tough, but very rewarding. I would highly recommend this to o anyone with a relative fitness level. The trek is through the jungle, up rocks and via temples.
