If I could give Lanna Kingdom Elephant Sanctuary 10 stars I would do so. Mr Pop has rescued/purchased 5 female elephants including a youngster only 3 yrs old. The adult females were previously working as riding elephants or doing heavy labour and young girl had been working in a circus. Mr Pop and his staff completely care for these amazingly intelligent animals and his devotion to and passion for them is palpable. We learned about their care and feeding. All of these elephants were calm and appeared healthy and well-cared for. I highly recommend visiting this place and also leaving a donation so Mr Pop’s work with these elephants can continue.
I loved this day! This has been my favourite activity in Thailand they were really beautiful friendly creatures and I enjoyed every minute of the day. Really glad I chose the full day option as we got time to do a lot more than just take a couple of photos with them. Really friendly, easy going staff and mahouts, a very relaxed and enjoyable day. Lunch was delicious and we were supplied clothes and shoes to wear with the elephants (it does get a little wet and muddy) and towels to shower with after.
Prompt pick up from hotel - warm guide - an interesting drive our to sanctuary-about 1 hour - met, fed, kissed elephants - made vitamin pill and fed to elephants! Watched them bathed although could have helped! Pad thai lunch - a very worthwhile charity - TB 1,000,000 minimum to buy and save elephant plus ongoing costs! Worthwhile cause - I will be awaiting births!
I had a great time at the Lanna Elephant Kingdom. You could tell that the everyone who worked there had a passion for conservation, and the elephants seemed very happy and healthy. The lunch was fantastic as well!
The best excursion I have taken in Thailand. If you are an animal lover this is a must
