The hop on hop off tram had around 18 stops which allowed ample choice. One stop was not far from the gondola and after a pleasant ride and a refresher at the top we walked down through the Botanical Gardens to Begonia House and the rose garden where we enjoyed another lovely botanical display. All together a very pleasant day.

Very good service from the volunteers from the city administration and the tram drivers. The damage from the previous earthquake is still present everywhere, hopefully the residents and visitors will be spared from further strong earthquakes. The transfer to the "Gondola" is only possible with cash (no card payments accepted). Pay attention to the flat rate (tram/gondola).

The benefits of buying the tram and gondola tickets together is perhaps they are cheaper combined. I have never been to Christchurch hence the tram is a good way to be familiarize with the city. Jumping on and off different trams is also interesting as every conductor has a different take or would point out different highlights along the way. My only complaint is there are only 3-4 trains running so the wait is every 20-30mins each time and the tram stops at 5pm. Getting to the gondola would require one to either drive up there or take a bus from town (which is relatively easy at the bus terminal). I had to ask the ticket counter for directions. Once you up there, it is a pretty scenic panorama view of Christchurch.
