Full description
This foodie walking tour starts at the renowned Truth coffee shop. Based around a vintage coffee roaster, the store has a distinct Steampunk edge and is a feast for the senses. From here you will explore the streets of the East City Precinct, formerly the fringe of District 6, where you will learn about the colorful history of Cape Town. Today it is a trendy area full of amazing eateries and dive bars. Next you will find yourself sampling some traditional Cape Malay treats on the Grand Parade, taking in the space where Nelson Mandela made his famous speech when he was released from prison in 1990. Making your way through downtown you will visit some bright and colorful market stalls, tasting some South African delicacies along the way. For the brave, you can try 7 different exotic meats at a biltong tasting. Long Street is your next destination, where you will sit down with locals to try an African staple, best enjoyed with your fingers.  From here you head off to a restaurant called The Company’s Garden, where you will sample a South African twist on a British favorite. You'll also explore the oldest fruit and vegetable garden in South Africa. Next up is Bobotie, a South African classic of curried mince baked with a layer of egg custard served with all the trimmings. End the day with an ice cream tasting in the heart of the city on Bree Street, surrounded by the best bars you can find in Cape Town.
